So I'll try to prop up the falling sky with 5 suggestions to get the team back on track..

1. De-emphasize the read option looks and pitch plays for now. Defenses are overcommitting to them big time and is killing any hope of a running game. Keep them in as ways to get the defense on their toes but let's get back to the stretch-zone scheme from under center and from the Pistol to set things up a little more.

2. Get Haslett out of the booth. It's clear that SOMETHING big is missing (outside of talent) with the defense this year. Maybe there is a disconnect between the sidelines and the players, maybe adjustments aren't being made on the fly, I don't know. But it's obvious that we've got some major issues early in games before he can address the unit at halftime.

3. Get a hold of the penalties! As much as Philly and GB have whupped us, we've done a great job of screwing ourselves as well. Terrible decisions by guys all over the field with personal fouls, unsportsmanlikes, etc. Gotta be smarter and play smarter. Time for RGIII and Fletcher to start lighting into their teammates.

4. Luck is cyclical. We can't get much unluckier with field position. It seems that every drive damn near starts inside our own 25 yard line. We've gotten none of the field flipping turnovers we saw last year, no plays on special teams to move the ball into better position. Part of it is repeated 3 and outs after a kickoff but our luck has to turn around.

5. Remember it's week 2 and everyone else in the division is weak as well. Dallas can't move the ball consistently. Philly is gonna burn out by Columbus Day. The Giants, well they look worse than us! We were probably gonna lose to Green Bay anyways and whoever played Philly in week one was gonna get Spurriered. We get back to business at home this week. Go out and get some stops, move the ball consistently and we can put the plug back in the panic dam.

So basically do everything better because nothing has worked.

What's scary is that if we somehow shut out Detroit and they got zero yards, after three games we would still likely have one of the bottom 3 defenses in the league. 480 yards to Rodgers? Nearly as many to Vick (not known for his 300+ yard games, by the way). The Pack hadn't had a 100 yard rusher in 44 games -- since 2010. McCoy ran free. As bad as the offense has been -- and it has been bad -- the defense has got to be on pace to be the worst in NFL history by far. If someone had told me that RGIII would have 3 TDs, no picks, and 320 yards and that Alfmo would get over 100 years in Green Bay, I would have thought we'd have had a chance to win (if not win). Don't get me wrong, I realize that a lot of that is in garbage time, but at least the offense has generated something. Our D has been putrid.

Why not give Kerry Rhodes a look? Could he be worse than Brandon "1 Series a Year" Merriweather? The G-men are about to pounce on this guy.

I will say, however, all this aside, the shooting in DC today does put things in perspective. I am out in CA, but have been watching the awful events unfold from here. Makes this seem relatively unimportant, as much as I love the team.

The def isnt going to be good if we keep having so little time of possession in the first half. Against the Eagles, after the first drive or two, we actually held Philly for a few drives, until the def got wore out. Against the Packers, same thing. Playing the def line is much more tiring than playing on the off line. You can wear them down if you have the ball the whole time. If the off moves the ball and doesnt keep running 3 or 4 plays per drive, the def will improve. Not that its a great def, its not, but its not as bad as they have shown so far.

Not quite that simplified but in a way, yes. There's no need to start scrambling to fire coaches, bench Griffin, blah blah blah that sports talk minded people espouse. Do some of you doubt your (any pretty much most analysts) ability to understand football and think that two weeks ago we were a playoff caliber team and now we're not? We played pretty much as bad as a team could play in back to back weeks, but it's still week 2. Come find me in Week 6 if we're still giving up 350 yds and being outscored 24-0 each first half.

Why this is even a topic is beyond me. A QB change after 2 games? ROFL. Either the media doesn't have jack squat to write on or the people thinking this stuff up are idiots.

They look good in the box score, but a more accurate measure of how the offense has played is looking at the first half statistics for these first two games.

Bottom line - until Robert is willing to extend plays with his legs, the offense will continue to struggle. I miss the RG3 from the Giants game last year who extended a play on 4th and 10 by scrambling outside the pocket before finding Paulsen for a huge 1st down. The guy we've seen so far this year is unwilling (or unable) to extend and make plays with his legs.

this board has seen some low but this is low man. I think even the negative nancy's were excited about this season and this team has just looked plain awful.

sad really.

Well, I always look on the bright side, and honestly think there's a lot to be excited about. This team has some really talented players on both sides of the ball.

Offensively we have our QB(s), RB(s), TE(s) and a couple WRs in place and an awesome left tackle. Fill in the rest of the line with guys who can actually block and it's ready for a HC/OC who can maximize the talent.

Defensively, I honestly believe the front 7 is solid. Totally solid with better coaching and adjustments. And we probably have 1 or 2 DBs who can be coached into solid players.

I think we could be a San Fran, Seattle or KC (if Reid does his thing) situation where the right coach/leadership steps in and BOOM, we're a contender.

No shit man, the guy is a freak of nature just trust his word and see what he can do, he seems to be moving around ok. I mean it seems like MS is being the "hardass" and is causing friction which we dont need

I thought that's what we did last yr when we left him in hurt. Maybe the coaches don't trust his judgment becuase of that. Also in the first 7 games last year Adrian P had only one 100 game and we know how that turned out.
