CASKINS 09-16-2013, 02:16 AM -I want Reed to play more. He was one of the only sure tacklers we had on defense today.
- Amerson/Rambo were missing tackles, and out of position a few times. The one play it looked like we checked off the coverage, and everyone knew it put Amerson. It resulted in a TD pass.
- RG3 is still looking like he's holding back. I can't really explain it, but even on his roll outs he looks a bit slower. It could just be the knee brace preventing him from bursting, but you can see the rust. He was bobbling snaps, faking the wrong way, messing up the play, dancing in the pocket, and overthrowing a lot of WR's today.
- We need to start playing more man coverage. I know a lot of you think this is crazy since you lack faith in our secondary, but with 2 rookies, and a good pass rush. I feel like the best route is to man up and pressure the QB. Most of our touchdowns allowed have been from blown coverages, and I feel like it'll help the rookies out by playing more man.
- A lot of people didn't like Danny Smith, but i'll be damned if we had all these bonehead penalties over and over and over again on special teams when he was here. It seems like we can't even have our special teams on the field without a penalty. Hell, even our onside kick last week had a penalty.
- Oh, and before I forget... Jordan Reed seems to have the best hands on the team this season. The guy catches everything. I wouldn't be surprised to see him take over the starting role by the bye week.
Reed Doughty is a great saftey and for some reason I can see him taking off for a pick six against detroit next week
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-16-2013, 08:39 AM J Reed has been a bright spot while Davis has not looked himself. I could see an increased role for the guy.
KI Skins Fan 09-16-2013, 08:59 AM So far, some of the solutions proposed here are:
1. Fire Shanny.
2. Fire Kyle.
3. Fire Haslett.
4. Sit RGIII.
To those, I'd say no, no, no, and no.
We're 0-2 and we've played horrible football across the board. I feel your pain. Nevertheless, I'm taking the long view and I still believe that the Skins have the right leadership in place, including Bruce Allen, to become a perennial contender in the near future.
Shanny and Bruce have done a lot of things right since they've been with the Redskins. They have drafted well and they haven't missed on many FA signings. Nevertheless, the team has been set back some by losing high draft picks in the trade that got them RGIII and by the unfair cap penalties imposed upon them by the NFL.
During the last two offseasons, other teams have been able to fill holes in FA that the Skins have not been able to fill due to the cap penalties they have endured. But, after this season, the Skins will also be able to fill some more team needs in FA and, after this draft, they will once again have more 1st Round draft picks. I believe that the Skins will select and sign the right people to get better when they have the opportunities do do so..
This organization did the right thing when they traded for the draft pick that got us RGIII. They desperately needed a Franchise QB. RGIII is now recovering from a serious injury and he's limited because of it but his future is very bright. In effect, due to that injury, this is his rookie year as a drop back passer and he is learning on the job. He must play so he can get better as a drop back passer. Ironically, I'm hoping that his unfortunate injury will ultimately turn out to be a good thing for him and for the team.
I believe that staying the course is the right long term answer. But I am not about to give up on this season after only two games. Let's all remember that the Skins won seven games in a row last seaon. If they did that once, they can do it again.
Evilgrin 09-16-2013, 09:08 AM Everyone is out of sync, they need more time. Shanahan said in the postgame, they need to get back to what they are good at.
The cap penalty was huge, honestly we might have 6-7 different starters right now.

That sort of turn over never helped us in the past, no reason to think that the old behavior that didn't work then would start working now.
Slingin Sammy 33 09-16-2013, 09:43 AM Why can't Griffin be compared to Steve young? Or john elway? It gets old comparing race to race, I agree with cam Newton when he said "what's the big deal about black Qbs "

Sonny9TD 09-16-2013, 09:47 AM Washington could not cover or tackle any of the Pack’s five primary receivers. Jones had his 11 catches on just 12 targets, Randall Cobb had nine catches on 10 targets for 128 yards. Jermichael Finley had six catches on seven targets, Starks, four of five, and Jordy Nelson, three of four.
The defensive backfield is atrocious. I'm almost thinking anyone else can take the place of our DBs and do a better job. Even undrafted rookies. Tackling? Forget about it. They need to have the rules changed to 2 hand tag to have a chance. Just leave Reed Doughty in place of Rambo. That's a bust. At least they tried to get a Safety i'll give them credit. They could not have done any worse whatsoever than the above stats.
They let the Packers break the 400 yard passing 100 yard rushing record by 80 yards of cushion in the passing and 50 yards in the rushing record after kneeling 3 times on the Skins 10 yard line. My only hope and I mean only is that the defense was gassed after the offense didn't arrive to the stadium until the 4th quarter to spend some time on the field.

Your delusional!
I find it funny how many fans forget how bad players are after just a few yrs. So let me help remind you.... Doughty is pretty good at SS lining up on the DL and going after the RB or trying to sack the QB, BUT... Doughty sucks in coverage. He can't cover a plate of mashed potato's. TE's always beat him and are too big for him to cover and he fails in the back field covering WR's.
So basically if you want a SS solely for the responsibility of rushing the QB or covering the RB then fine, but Haslett requires the SS not only to do that but to cover WR's and TE's and in some cases switching off with the FS to cover the back field.
I'll give you another example of people easily forgetting. Grossman. I'll never understand why he's on this team still but there are a few fans who seem to love him. He's old, and one dimensional. Remember he was our starting QB once and teams quickly figured out that he can't run so they stack the box to stop the run and force Grossman to beat them through the air. Folks .... that's one dimensional. Grossman failed which is why the team picked up McNabb, which led to the team picking up RG3 and Cousins.

That pretty much sums it up. But the front 7 should shoulder blame too. We made Starks looks like AP. He had gaping holes to run through.

Im not talking about big spending.
