I know that RGIII,Morris, and the rest of the Redskins have not made being rusty as an excuse, which is the right thing to do so they hold themselves accountable. But that's what rusty is- making mistakes, not being sharp, and not playing to the level that you're used to because of inactivity.

Yeah Griff is never going to make excuses. He is the only one that really could use rust as an excuse though, I mean the rest of the team did see some live action diring pre-season and participate fully in 11-11's in camp.
As for Morris - who knows what his numbers would have looked like if we werent down 33-7. That kind of defecit never lends a hand to the ground game.

1-10 last year and got smoked in the two losses. Maybe he can play safety for us in his spare time?
Edit: his son is the qb on the team. That has to be tough.

Exactly what I was saying after the game- how you survive the initial onslaught (like the Tyson fights) and when they catch their breathe then attack.

"I think that the speed of that offense isn’t gonna be like that for four quarters. What they’re gonna do is they’re gonna come out, and they’re gonna punch people in the mouth with that tempo. That’s what we did at Oregon. We wanted to come out and set the tempo and dictate to the other team what the game was gonna be like. They jumped out and they scored all those points and you just hang on. You play sound, fundamental football for the other three quarters. Then you can hopefully get away with a win."

Here's what some players think.

Lets see if it works when the opposing team doesn't turn the ball over basically 4 times (safety included) in the first half and first possession of the second half of the game.

Regardless of what we think of Kelly's offense, it worked against us week one. Remember, it was their first game running it. Everyone is saying they can't sustain it, and I think there is some truth to that, but on the flip side, they might get better at it.

The best thing about being new to the NFL is unpredictability. But since there may be a pattern that's confirmed by a former Kelly/Oregon player, that should no longer be the case. A lot of NFL expert analysts seem to ignore and overlook this. A team usually doesn't just cruise to a one possession lead. That's not a blowout or route. Especially when that strategy is confirmed by a former player.

You have to have a rope-a-dope or rocky (ironic?) strategy and let them punch themselves out.

But a former player already said that that's his strategy - all out in the first quarter and try to play fundamentally the rest of the game. Problem is its hard to do anything when they're tired. They key to opposing defenses is to not keep up with their pace just contain them while they're playing that way. Even if they score every possession while they're in this mode- limit their scores to field goals. It's a win for the defense if its a field goal or less in the first quarter.
