Interesting observation on Hog Heaven -- comparing the Spurrier and Kelly debut games (apologies if this has been posted already):

Kelly's Eagles: 443 yards of offense on 74 plays and 33 points

Spurrier's Redskins: 442 yards of offense on 72 plays and 31 points

Let's hope that Kelly has the same trajectory as Spurrier (7-9 season 1; 5-11 season 2; no season 3)

Hail.

Not sure if this was mentioned either, but for all the talk of the eagles 53 in the first half, no one really mentions that the redskins had 58 plays in the second half.

I really see no way the eagles finish above .500. Their offense worked on us because we missed a lot of tackles, more so than the scheme, IMO. I don't think this offense will hold water when it's up against a stout d. It opens the QB and other position players up for abuse. It works in college cause there's the next man up and it's 11 games as opposed to 16+. Guess we'll see...

Read what you wrote on post #288

You sir are correct and thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I need to proof read before I hit submit. The point I was trying to infer is that he didn't want the RO on a regular basis or want it to become the base offense.

without looking it up I believe SS first game coaching was against ARZ am I right?

Winner winner. We beat Arizona 31-23.

The next week we played Philly and lost 37-7.

Yeah and Philly's offense was clearly gassed by halftime. I don't think it holds up either, it's only a matter of time before Vick gets hurt.

After one game, the eagles are suddenly the next great NFL thing. The media seems to have selective memory because the eagles "high flying offense" has as much to do with the Redskins mistakes and specifically turnovers as it does anything else. After the turnovers, the eagles came back down to earth.

The reason why the eagles ran so many plays is because the redskins kept giving the ball back to them - with the 2 turnovers, safety, and even the defensive touchdown. I swear the national media are morons - not because they're stupid - but because they are lazy and repeat what they think everyone else is saying.

Ahh, c'mon -- people said the same thing about RGIII last season and look what . . . oh, right.

I know that RGIII,Morris, and the rest of the Redskins have not made being rusty as an excuse, which is the right thing to do so they hold themselves accountable. But that's what rusty is- making mistakes, not being sharp, and not playing to the level that you're used to because of inactivity.

The media is overlooking this, but Vick's words doesn't sound like a player that wants to keep up that fast-paced offense for a full season. One way or another, the media and the eagles are still trying to anoint them - NFL's Dream Team.

Vick: "I've never been a part of anything like it. When the first quarter was over, I thought we was about to go into halftime. It was unreal. The only thing I could tell myself was, 'It's going to be a long season.'"

He was already hurt during our game.
