SmootSmack 09-10-2013, 02:33 PM They started out at Bracket Room (new sports bar in Clarendon) then went down to A-town, that's where I saw them. Fred Davis goes there a lot. They all seem like good guys, but CMON MAN! its the season opener on Monday night, take a night off.
Did you actually see them drinking alcohol or were they just there?
SirLK26 09-10-2013, 02:36 PM Sorry Skip but that's BS.
That wouldn't have helped with the other miscues, like the fumbles, tackling, blocking, etc. It was team effort.
I don't agree with this. I'm glad RG3 didn't play in the preseason; the risk of injury wasn't worth it. And it's true that it wouldn't have helped with other players' miscues. But playing RG3 for a half or so in preseason would have helped him "shake the rust off". To be honest, he looked terrible in the first half. He wasn't making the right reads, and he was missing receivers; basically, it looked like he was playing "stiff". He just didn't look comfortable. And that's because this was his first game action since the playoffs.
Playing in the preseason wouldn't have prevented the team's bad play, but it certainly would have helped RG3's game in the first half. And if RG3 would have played well, it would have partially negated the bad play of the other players; instead of a 19 point deficit at half-time, it would have been more like a 10 point deficit. The quarterback is the most important player on the field, and if he would have played well the whole game, it would have gone a lot better for everyone.
This Eagles' game was his preseason, and he will come out firing on all cylinders against Green Bay. Philly will be but a distant memory when we come out victorious.
DynamiteRave 09-10-2013, 02:37 PM One positive note that I haven't seen discussed much is I thought Amerson played a quality game. Looks like he will be a good corner in the NFL.
When you're not getting your name called and you're a secondary player, that's typically a really good thing. I think he'll be a solid #1 for us next year.
CRedskinsRule 09-10-2013, 02:39 PM every time I look at this thread and see the level of discussion about the D, I'm amazed. Out of 10 drives that Philly started in their field, they had:
1 TD
1 FG
2 Turnovers (both resulting in TD's for the Skins 1 def. 1 off.)
5 punts
1 kneel down.
out of 4 starting on the Skins side, they had 3 TD's and 1 punt.
Short fields are offenses friends.
For the record, the Skins started 1 drive on the Eagles side and had 1 TD.
We had 2 drives that started outside our 30, we TD's on both.
If Kai makes that FG, we are playing to kick a game winner(wouldn't go for 2 the one time) instead of going for it on 4th and 15.

I still don't think risk was worth it for a guy coming off a major knee surgery. The fact he was back in the starting lineup week 1 was a pretty major accomplishment on it's own. If we want him around for the next decade, it's more important to keep the big picture in mind.
CultBrennan59 09-10-2013, 02:57 PM Speaking of easing in a player. Would you all welcome back Tanard and immediately put him in as the starting FS knowing he's rusty but Rambo is also a rookie, or do you go with the growing pains of getting a young rookie safety acclimated to the NFL as a starter since the other starter hasn't played in a regular season game in 2 years?

I don't think it would have been worth it either. Obviously, keeping RG3 healthy is far more important than winning an opening game. But what Skip Bayless said is true: if RG3 played in the preseason, we would have won that game.
hooskins 09-10-2013, 03:15 PM Is that assuming rg3 was 100% at the beginning of preseason?

Can't say that for sure.
You could just as easily say "if RG3 played in the preseason, he would have been lost for the season."
It's all speculation, and boils down to the fact that it wasn't worth the risk.
It's one game, time to move on.
CultBrennan59 09-10-2013, 03:17 PM Oh yeah I guess another positive is Mr. Riley. He played a hell of a game. We should work out a long term deal with him soon, because London's gone next year.
Also when did he start going by Perry Riley Jr. ?
