The Eagles only advantage, IMO, is the element of surprise. Chip Kelly will pull some weird stuff. If it's enough to throw us off our game, then we could have a close ballgame. I don't believe it will be, however, especially because of Fletcher running the defense.

Skins 38 - Eagles 7

Eagles turn the ball over early and often and can't get into the flow of Kelly's gameplan.

Thanks for posting, now I know I want for lunch.

But yeah, lots of turnovers for Chippy.

Important thing about our pre-season, and yes overall it's meaningless, is that our offense was effective even without most of the 1st string. Point being that our whole team, especially offense, is on the same page, and executing efficiently. I don't see the Eagles defense as particularly better than any of the starting defenses in preseason, and putting Griffin, Morris and Garcon on the field together is going to be to much for the Eagles. If anything, I worry we get a big lead early, and then let off the gas, and the Eagles make a comeback.

Two things:

(1) Even with a big lead, I just don't see Griffin as the type to allow the team to ease up. Just generally, he's too smart and too competitive for that. In addition, this is his "I told you so" moment in front of a national audience. I am certain he has been waiting eight months to erase the image of him collapsing on the field and the bad taste of losing. We will undoubtedly lose games this season - this will not be one of them. If RGIII has anything to say, this team will be making a statement Monday night. "It's our night!"

(2) I really mean it when I say the Eagles don't have character. When a team's leaders are Vick and D. Jackson, that team is simply not going to have the strength/resiliency to rally back. In the past, and for all his multitude of faults, Reid was the glue - taking the blame when things went wrong, absolving players, etc. Don't see Kelly doing that. I really think the Eagles are vastly overrating themselves & Kelly's system and underrating the leadership dearth on their team.

I have gone back and forth on Kelly. At first, I was pretty sure he wasn't going to be a Spurrier b/c he said the right things initially about working hard and understanding that the NFL is different. Since then, I think more and more he is playing lip service to the second part and is operating under the same fallacy as Spurrier was - all he has to do is coach'em up a bit and his system, with a tweek here and there, will transfer to the NFL.

I don't think he is Spurrier bad but I could easily see him pulling a Petrino or N. Saban. He may work hard, but I just don't see him as a leader/motivator of men (not college guys). Sure, he works hard, but it seems he is working hard to prove his system will work. Like Spurrier, he went out and got a bunch of his college guys to plug into his system. It seems to me he is thinking, as Spurrier did, "My system will make up for their talent deficiencies."

I think he is in for a huge fall and the team that remains in Philly doesn't have a Brian Dawkinsesque guy to keep them together.

Either way, it'll be fun to watch the Redskins do to the Eagles what they did to us (59 points) back in 2010. 28 points in the first Quarter in 'Thug Bowl'.

<sigh>

I fully expect us to beat the dogs**t out of them. I think our defense has been practicing things that will totally stop the Iggles offense from getting into any kind of rythem whatsoever. Cofield and our LBers will play like rabid dogs and as Joe said, Robert is gonna shine....and he has the motivation and talent around him to do it. My son-in-law (bastard) trying to raise my grandson to be an Iggles fan? I can't wait til Monday night!!!

I agree with you. This poster from an Eagles board, however, disagrees. Doesn't the ignorance make you want to barf?

Between the Redskins having a terrible defense, already suffering some defensive losses early in the season, being 1 of the most poorly coached and run teams for the last 20 years and them having no film on the New Eagles,, I would think the Eagles should have a HUGE HUGE advantage in that game.

I get it that our defense has endless questions. But there is not 1 thing I can think of that favors the Redskins if Kelly has even the slightest clue of what he is doing...

Redskins - they stink and this should literally be 1 of Kelly's easiest wins of the year. Not because the Eagles are great. But because of what I said above.

The only thing that scares me about the eagles is that we haven't seem their offense yet. But like others have said, there isn't anything London Fletcher hasn't seen in his 16 years in the league.

Remember June Jones/Mouse Davis run and shoot offense? How did it do in the NFL.
