And finally you always want to give your team an in-season cushion to be able to make moves during the season

I always assumed that BA had some restructures and/or extensions in his back pocket, but why use them early then need new plans.

I guess the other possibility is an Orakpo extension

I really wouldn't have been shocked to see either a TW or Orakpo extension instead of the Bowen/Cofield/Carriker move. But Bowen and Carriker both seem like solid moves to me. Whatever gets us through the season...

Could the Redskins pursue a trade for Jarius Byrd? - Son of Washington (http://sonofwashington.com/2013/09/05/could-the-redskins-pursue-a-trade-for-jarius-byrd/)

Just another story to add to yours.

Too much to give up to get him. Doubt it happens unless he and the BIlls both becomes desperate.

Yup. And that is the smart way to go. Wait until we have a week one roster (and hence a firm salary cap number) and then do the restructures necessary to make it all work.

byrd wants a crazy big new deal too. we don't have the money and while he's a great player, if we did have the money, safety isn't where i'd be spending it with rak needing a new deal and right tackle still weak.
