No, he's not a free agent yet. He can be picked up off the waiver wire. Hopefully for us it was just a tactic to avoid being traded to a bad team for a 7th rounder. If Seattle thought he would retire if cut...they wouldn't pursue a trade. Who knows...but it is a bummer. Once you have 4 years of service in the NFL, there is no waiver wire. Waivers are only for younger players. He is whats called a vested veteran, meaning he is outright cut and doesnt deal with waivers. He is a free agent. Editing to add: A vested veteran only deals with waivers if he is cut after the trade deadline. Didnt know that but still not going to concede anything to you. There was still a good chance if the seahawks trading him before releasing him. So there you go. Ha! | |
