jordanz301 03-13-2005, 10:58 PM whos more of a overrated LB lavar arrington, brian urlacher, ray lewis they had this question on nfl network..
LAvar arrington
goods- great tackler, good run stopper, great cover guy, ball hawk(great ball stripper), great blitzer, blazin speed
bads- overruns plays like crazy, cnt read defenses,
brian urlacher-
goods-great tackler, good work habit, good run stopper
bad- hes not old but for a linebacker hes gettin up there, bad cover, pretty slow runner, not a great blitzer( basically hes mediocre)
ray lewis
good- great speed, good tackler, great cover, great blitzer all around great great work habit, watches game film,
bad- age is up there, his loud ass mouth , undersized
ps... even when antonio pierce was with us i thought he wa soverrated, he did good because of gregs williams defensive schemes, lets see how he does in new york,
mooby 03-13-2005, 11:03 PM brian urlacher is overrated. true, lavar does overrun plays a bit, but still, he makes up for it when he is at his best.
Gmanc711 03-13-2005, 11:14 PM Ranking them in order:
1 Urlacher: He is good, but defintley not the hall of fame; feared guy he is made out to be somtimes. I really dont even give him a second thought as a main worry when we play the Bears.
2 Arrington: A big over-rated; still a good peice to the puzzel, but he hasent taken that step yet from good to great.
3 Ray Lewis: Not over-rated. That is a guy defenses plan around; however when they do attack him, they are successful alot. However when you are one of the main reasons offense's have to plan around you, you're not over-rated. He's defintley on the decline (showing it staring last year), but as a whole he is exellent.
TheMalcolmConnection 03-13-2005, 11:17 PM Definitely Urlacher. I honestly don't think that LaVar is an over-rated as everyone is saying. EVERYONE has their flaws and I just don't feel like he falls into the "over-rated" category. Lewis is the man, he will never be over-rated. His career IS on it's downswing however.
Gmanc711 03-13-2005, 11:21 PM Accidently double posted. Just deleting.
Big C 03-13-2005, 11:55 PM urlacher was drafted the same year as arrington...so if urlacher is gettin up there in years, then what is arrington?
TheMalcolmConnection 03-13-2005, 11:58 PM Seriously... Recently it seems like a lot of us are calling players "old" when they are in their LOOOOW 30s. LOL
Daseal 03-14-2005, 12:05 AM Ray Lewis #1 - Sorry folks - Old Grey Mare just ain't what he used to be. Everyone saw him making a fool of himself on Monday NIght Football complaining about all the "double teams" he was taking. If he's really as great as he says he should be more than used to it. The problem was, I believe it was Sheilds, rocked him 1 on 1 most of the game. Priest embarrassed him, and many games this year were played like that. Ray Lewis used to be great, but he's on the down slope, and he's just a murderer that can play a sport.
He had a mediocre year, especially by his standards, yet people are too afraid to call him for what he really is. I'm sick of hearing how great Baltimore's defense is (who finished behind us in nearly every category) and how great Ray Lewis is. He used to be, no doubt, but he hasn't been at that level for a long time.
As far as LaVar and Urlacher - they're about even. Both very good linebackers, Urlacher has great side-to-side running skills. Urlacher will make a lot of really solid plays for you, LaVar will make spectacular plays, and then absolute bonehead plays. There's no perfect player in this league, everyone has their downfalls.
mooby 03-14-2005, 12:07 AM lavar arrington is like 28 years old. that's not old in this league. he still probably has a good seven years of play left in him.
Daseal 03-14-2005, 12:11 AM Not the way he sacrifices his body, I could certainly see injuries becoming more of a facet of LaVar's career. He sacrifices his body, like us fans love, but it doesn't equal into longevity.
