I would hardly call that a meltdown. Those reporters are so damn annoying asking the same questions over and over again. I don't blame him for getting short with that crap. Jim Mora? Denny Green? Now those were meltdowns.
Rex Ryan loves the media, and he loves the attention. He relishes being in New York and rounding up the reporters to gather around him and listen to his bravado. And they do, and in large part because of them, he's a larger than life figure in and out of the NFL who commands more attention than he probably deserves.
But you can't have it both ways. You can't insist that the media be at your beck and call when you want to remind people that you're the head coach of the New York Jets. But then get pissy when you're challenged

^^ Reinforcing my personal belief that the man is a douche.
Yeah, yeah, he's a party guy. Guys think he's great. Blah blah blah.
He's got no class. Never had it. Never will.

Im sure its been said a thousand times, but I remember when we were all debating whether or not to give up everything to get Mark Sanchez . . . . . God I'm just really really glad we didn't do that . . . Really.

The Jets are going to the Super Bowl once they sign the great John Beck.

Wasn't just a rumor. I don't think Cerrato worked harder to get any move done than that. Thankfully, it didn't work out

Just so very, very glad Cerrato gone. Between his weaslely/greasy/slimy persona, his penchant for big splash talent acquisitions, and his undervaluing continuity and line-play, I miss nothing of his time here. I simply will never understand why he lasted as long as he did except possibly b/c he was excellent at manipulating blame.
He just struck me as the type who, after he shook your hand, you felt like you needed a shower.

Rex Ryan's ass should be on the line for putting Sanchez in that situation. I wonder how the locker room will respond to him this season knowing that his ego is out of control. Just a complete shit show in New York.
In fact, the QB situations in Buffalo, New York, and Oakland is dire.

Anyone got the over/under on Ryan lasting the year? Their bye is week 10. Anyone else thinking he doesn't makes it to that? I think the podium melt down is the beginning of the end. He is going to get hammered from now on.
In the locker? I can't imagine the Sanchez scenario played well. Further, lacking it himself, he never built a character team that would withstand internal pressures. When the going gets tough, the blame will be spread. I am betting that there is going to be a lot of finger pointing in that locker room - between coaches and players too.
But then, I have never been a fan of the Ryans. Just in case anyone missed that.

I could envision the Jets having the worst record in football this year. Which means, yeah, Rex is fired at the end of the season, if not before.
