Not really, he took us to the playoffs and played really well that year, age just got to him

Meh...He was decent in 2005: 57.7%, 3,050 yards, 23 TDs, 10 INTs.

And over his whole time in Washington? 57.9%, 6,033 yards , 38 TDs, 20 INTs. Not too bad, I guess...

Embarrassing to fine Bostic over that hit. Smh.
Brunells 05 season was one of his best. Double dagger to Moss sparked it.
Cowboys just sign Sean Lee to a six year extension.

Bears rookie linebacker Bostic fined $21,000 for hit - chicagotribune.com (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-bears-jon-bostic-fine-20130821,0,7640202.story)

This is a joke. 21,000 for a player who wrapped up, and tried to lead with his shoulder. The other hits they fine for I'm OK with, but to fine a player who wrapped up and made a tackle on a receiver who obviously was not "defenseless" and turned up field is a joke.*Throws flag and blows whistle* "PHWEEEEEET!"

"Personal foul. On the defense. Unnecessary toughness. 15 yard penalty. Automatic FIRST DOWN."

(yeah the fact there was no penalty makes the fine worse.)

It seems like everyone is getting that lisfranc injury. I never even heard of it until a couple seasons ago

A few Chip Kelly tidbits from various tweets:

Zach Berman ‏@ZBerm 33m

Anyone who wants to cite time of poss. this year -- Chip doesn't care about it. "Time of possession is how much time the other team wastes."

Zach Berman ‏@ZBerm 45m

Eagles day off this season under Kelly is Monday. Will practice Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat.

Ross Tucker ‏@RossTuckerNFL 2m

Eagles HC Chip Kelly on contrast between tempo/speed of officials in NCAA & NFL: "Zero difference. None."

Another quote that I heard, but have no source to verify (maybe SS or others know the specific, and if my context is wrong please correct me), is [paraphrased]"we looked at on field performance in our evaluations, not the mental approach behind it".

A topic that will surely dominate this season will be Chip Kelly's transition to the NFL. Many are focusing on his offensive scheme, but my question is, and will remain, can he change from dealing with dependent young men to highly paid independent athletes. I think the transitions go far deeper than just the on field product. I will be really surprised, just from my personal opinions, if he lasts in the NFL, but will be intriguing to see how it goes.

The Saints just cut oft injuried OT Jason Smith. Hope he can get on somewhere as a backup. Seemed like he had so much potential.

Spoken like a man that is used to 100 man rosters and being able to convince the best to come to your college as opposed to having drafts where the talent is split more evenly.

Time of possession has a clear affect on your defense. He will also find out that when a team goes out and has a 7 or 8 minute drive with a TV timeout mixed in there plus another for change of possession, that it will affect a precision offense as well. A defense sitting for longer periods helps them, an offense sitting longer periods gets them cold and they can perform worse. Its much more taxing, stamina wise, to play defense.

I don't watch the college game so I don't know if what he says about the refs is true but I do know that, when asked about the biggest difference between the college game and the pros, the players site the speed of the game almost without fail. As to time of possesion, while true it isn't determinative, it's a pretty good indicator. In the pros, if you can't control the clock when you need to, you will lose more often than you win - much more often.

Kelly clearly is a more detail oriented guy than Spurrier ever was. At the same time, there seems to be a similar disrespect for the difference between the college game and what he will be facing Sept. 9th forward. I am not saying he is doomed, maybe he is in the right place at the right time with his emphasis on an up tempo offense. Based on some of the thngs I have read, I am just skeptical. Part of it, of course, I am hoping he will Spurrierize the Eagles.
