Anyone think AD will break Emmitts record?
He has to stay super healthy. Even then he likely would not break the record until after the 2017 season, which is when he predicted that he would do it.

Yeah E.S was a true workhorse back for years. He was a rare talent and even though Peterson is a freak athlete and talent i just dont see it either.

If Peterson had an offensive line and a defense as good as Emmitt Smith's Cowboys had, then he probably would come very close. But Smith was better.

It's a passing league and running backs are generally discarded around the age of 30. I don't think that record ever gets broken. New era of football.

Yeah, if Sanders had kept playing, I think he would have got far more than the 15000 yards he did. But maybe he knew he was declining and wanted to go out while he was still at the top of his game.
It's also a shame, however, that Clinton Portis wasn't blessed with the health that Sanders and Emmitt Smith were. Portis had more yards through the first four seasons of his career than both Sanders and Smith. Then came the 2006 season, the first year where he rushed for less than 1300 yards. I've always maintained that Portis is one of the most all-around talented backs of all time, and if he could have stayed healthy, I'm sure he would be somewhere around the 15000 yard mark also. Ahhhh, well.

I know Andre has gone down hill, but he should be at least 8th on that list.

Well I guess if going down hill means having a 112 catch almost 1600 yard season, than he had a down season. I think he should be 5th. Definitely ahead of Dez and Thomas.
I will always have the picture of Reed Doughty trying to cover Andre glued in my mind.
