hey i dunno why everyone is makin a fuss why AP left?......i mean does ne one have any word on mike barrow's status?.....he was suppposed to be a huge wen we aquired him last offseason.......i mean if hes going to be healthy next year who knos he might be good.....if not greg williams will find someway.....
A savvy, productive player who contributed more than 200 tackles and invaluable leadership in his first two seasons with the Giants…A standout with the Oilers and Panthers, he was a vital free agent acquisition for the Giants prior to the 2000 season…Recorded more than 100 tackles for the fifth time in six seasons in 2001 …Barrow played on a national championship team at the University of Miami and carried a winning spirit and positive outlook to each of his professional stops…Played his first four seasons with the Houston Oilers…After moving to Carolina as a free agent, Barrow started every game for three seasons and was a key player in the in the Panthers defense, leading the team in sacks as an outside linebacker in 1997, leading the team in tackles with a franchise-record 158 as an inside linebacker in 1998 and, in his final season with the Panthers, leading the team for the third straight season with 131 tackles…Has been in on 909 tackles in his NFL career."......... obviously from these stats he was a very good outside nd inside linebacker.....wen he came to the redskins on the rroster he was a middle linebacker so maybe williams will give hima shot in training camp..........does ne one know how long his contract is?

The odds are against him right now. No one can take away from all of his acomplishments and career stats. Old age has finally caught up with him and it'll be a long road to coming back from this type of injury. As Bubba Tyer put it 'This injury is career threatening'. He'll be given a chance, before June 1st cuts. :oink:

MIke Barrow was last year's version of Dave Fiore. Barrow and Fiore had long and solid and productive careers in the NFL and were willing to come play here for not a backbreaking amount of money. The reason they would take less than huge money is that both Barrow and Fiore had mileage [translation: wear and tear] on them. And unfortunately, both of them got hurt here and never gave the Redskins anything that even resembled what they had accomplished prior to coming to Washington.
This is NOT something to beat up the FO about. They made good signings with both of these guys but the "football gods" did not smile on the Skins in those situations. Neither guy is the reason the Skins are having "cap difficultes". The FO took a shot at two productive players who had some injury history; in both cases, they crapped out. Hi Ho!

on the flip side, springs and harris were also (relatively) cheap gambles that did work... they don't have barrow type mileage though ;)
sh*t happens... but i don't have any problems or regrets with those signings unlike the massive deals to over the hill guys like bruce smith and mark brunell :P

I honestly think that the MLB is probably our biggest concern right now. Barrow is ancient (he played for the houston oilers for a few years.. how many people in the league can say that) and i dont know if marshall has the smarts or the leadership abilities to take control of a complex defense. Who knows, this time last year antonio pierce was a second string outside linebacker and special teamer, but i think we do need to address the MLB position with some major attention this year.

If we get some more cap space from the Gardner situation, I wonder if we might still move on an FA MLB. I think it's going to be important as well.
