Baltimore Ravens will look to trade Vonta Leach or release him, source says - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9363300/baltimore-ravens-look-trade-vonta-leach-release-source-says)
This is one of those guys who just wins. Move Rice 10 spots down on your draft board.
I really like this because we are going to see immediately just how smart that Flacco contract was...the affect on the team already has been tremendous. If the team wins and Flacco is good, he will deserve a ton of praise, but if he is even average to above average, team average he will deserve everything that is coming his way.
flacco cap hit this season is the same as last yr (7 mil?) so the current purge is not all bc of flacco's new contract . . in 2 yrs his cap hit is over 20 mil (i think).
the ravens have ngata and suggs contracts to figure out in a year or so . . i could see them letting both walk.

Yeah but rice or Ryan?
I wouldnt keep either. Ryan and Rice rank around the same in terms of their position...probably upper 2nd tier rankings for both.

So Joe will he serve 30 days then? Also, could she have suspended time...say 25 days, 29 days?
My guess is the 30 days are set - but I am not sure. It's different from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but I think any appeal to shorten would be through the judge. However, really not my area.
As to what she could or could not do - Generally, judges can do pretty much whatever they want. If their actions are too outrageous, they may be sanctioned later. So, yeah, she could have probably suspended it - or lengthened it - if the mood struck her. Instead, she essentially went with the safest course by going with what had already been decided and simply rejecting the plea deal. In essence, she just reaffirmed a prior ruling and did not insert her own contempt finding.
Very simple rule - Don't f*** around in front of a Judge. Judge's come in all temperments and levels of intelligence. Regardless of whether they are smart, stupid, a**holes or nice, they can all lock you away or fine you - and will - if you do something they deem contemptous. Even if they are way out of line, your our only recourse is to file motions and hope you have a good lawyer who will get things reviewed quickly. Even then, no guarrantee you get released. If they tell a bailiff to lock you up, you will spend time in jail.

On the bright side, you'll be rebuilding for the next 10 years.

So I am late to the Tebow to the Pats news. Maybe Darth Hoody will brain-wash him and convince him to stop trying to be a QB.

I see this as a no-cost win/win.
The win for Tebow is obvious. Gets back in football. Minimal controversy, so he can move past the past. Back with McDaniels, and can develop.
The win for the Patriots is less obvious, but also costs them nothing unless he proves he can be of value, but also, they bring in a guy who has lifted the play of an entire team (Denver). No one in their fan base is going to go Tebow crazy, so they can just look him over in camp and preseason, and see if he can be a fit. The biggest part of the win, is he is a competent camp body that gets their defense thinking outside of the box, and their offense is so stable they can afford to take a few practice snaps out of Brady's hands to let the defense see other looks.
So how did he lift the play of the Denver defense that held their own when he kept going 3 and out? Did they decide to play better cause they knew they were going to be on the field more? If that's the case then we should just say the hell w/ RG3 and run out Pat White. I don't understand that comment, nor do I understand the media love affair with someone who completes 45% of his passes.
