What an awful place to live (in terms of being boring and nothing to do) mooby 05-08-2013, 09:23 PM y'all is better than saying 'you guys' What about yous guys? What an awful place to live (in terms of being boring and nothing to do) I dont remember it like that,I had a great time growing up there.Rode our bikes everywhere, had Sudley pool{now a waterpark}within a mile, tennis and basketball courts next to it.Or we could ride our bikes a mile or so past Sudley to Bull Run Creek, cross creek and go to that pool,I thought it was a great place to live MTK 05-09-2013, 09:07 AM I dont remember it like that,I had a great time growing up there.Rode our bikes everywhere, had Sudley pool{now a waterpark}within a mile, tennis and basketball courts next to it.Or we could ride our bikes a mile or so past Sudley to Bull Run Creek, cross creek and go to that pool,I thought it was a great place to live My Dad lived there for a few years, didn't seem like a bad place to live at all. I always got a kick outta how everything is named Bull Run. skinsguy 05-09-2013, 11:10 AM I lived in Southern VA all my life. The way people talk down in Southside depends upon the education level. My dad is very southern/country when he speaks. He'll say something like, "Thems beans are right tasty, bet they cost right smart!" He's not "book smart" or highly educated, but he is pretty smart with mechanics and electronics. Most locals don't hear an accent from me, or either accuse me of being a transplant. I usually tend to speak properly, but my accent is more prominent if I'm around a bunch of people who are not from Southern VA. Monkeydad 05-09-2013, 12:05 PM ^ sounds Nu Joisy (NJ) to me. lol That is how Nu Yawkaz say Nu Joisy. There was a reason why they all moved, and one of the main consensus reasons was because of how 'awful' it was to live there. If you all didn't have that strip of just restaurants and shops (the name of that road escapes me right now), I feel like that town would be a zombie town. |
