Multi-Vitamin Packs?

My wife and I went to GNC this past weekend to buy some multivitamins. Since we both are concerned with weight loss, we wanted something that will kind of help boost our metabolism, but for the most part, we just wanted a good multivitamin. I wound up buying the multivitamin pack that is geared toward those who do pretty serious workout routines. I do P90X and sometimes will mix in Insanity as well. So, I figured I'd try them.

Anyways, these things must have a high level of caffeine in them, because I took these things for the first time yesterday morning, and I could not sleep last night. I was still wired, and I had no other caffeine drinks yesterday. Also, it's been giving me these cold sweats, as if I had a fever.

So, I guess my question is, what do you guys consider a good multivitamin to take, and is it normal for me to be experiencing these side effects? I took them again this morning, and made it into work, but I'm freezing to death and sweating at the same time. I also have a bad headache. It's only 9:30 in the morning, and I'm not sure how long I'm going to last today! Should I tough it out and allow my body to get used to them, or should I return these suckers and just go to Walmart and get a standard multivitamin pill?

You're probably experiencing a Niacin flush... find a multivitamin that isn't high in niacin.

I don't take them anyways, just usually makes you have expensive pee.

USANA are the best, since they at least do some testing. men's health one's (and most multivitamins) are total junk. most of the minerals/vitamins don't even get absorbed.

Usana (http://shop.usana.com/shop/cart/Categories?parentCat=3)

i'd only take 2 tablets per day (1 ea chelated/antioxidant) per day and not 4 (unless you're running marathons or something crazy).

Those packs from GNC are a huge rip-off.

If you're looking for a good multi- with some performance benefits for working out/building muscle, my recommendation is OptiMen by ON (Optimum Nutrition - who also makes the best whey protein).

Rob mentioned the Niacin flush. That really concerned me. Back in November, I had an allergic reaction to Niacin (was taking it for my cholesterol) started experiencing similar symptoms of the cold sweats, except my skin turned blood red and my face became all puffy. I wound up passing out twice, hitting my head pretty bad the second time causing a major concussion. Now, I'm just having the cold sweats - my face is a little red, but nothing like it was that night. I'm taking these things back pronto and getting my money back.

While I would love to have something that would naturally, help my metabolism, I just wanted a simple multivitamin pill. I mean, these things are $50 freakin' bucks for Pete's sake!

When I pass a GNC I always see this in my head.

Yep...even GNC's products that actually work (protein and legit supps) cost about double at GNC than online or from other vendors. GNC plays on the unaware.

I used to shop there before I learned the lesson too. I find much better deals at The Vitamin Shop for regular vitamins for me and the wife and I order my protein online. If there's a good sale like a Buy 2-Get 1 Free sale on my protein from bodybuilding.com , I can get 3 tubs for the price of 1 exactly the same tub from GNC. They'll sell you a product for $50 that you can get online for $20.
