Snyder threatened to bench Coles for two years and then cut him! Coles bails on Gibbs after Gibbs asked to meet with Coles!

Some crazy drama. What does everyone think?

Sound's to me like Coles pretty much created the entire scenerio, he tries to make Snyder out as the bad guy while failing to address the big question and that is, if you wanted out so bad why would you squash a deal to get you out for money I would have done EXACTLY what Snyder did.

If Gibbs offense didn't suck so bad we wouldn't be discussing how we got screwed on cap issues and we would still have a great receiver. Coles always gave 100%

Sounds like Gibbs only cared about his boyz Portis and Brunnel . He left Brunell in way to long, and tried to hard to get portis his yards.
On the positive side Gibbs is smart enough to figure learn from his mistakes.

Painful. "I'm not one of his boys"? Then become one of his boys. Put out, shut-up and show up when the boss calls you. Get the surgery you need to regain any explosiveness. Honor your contract. I loved Coles for a while but good riddance.

Look again at Demasio's article. Here's the crucial bit:

Indeed in the final meeting in mid-February, Gibbs tried to reconcile with his disgruntled player, Coles said. Gibbs explained he planned to open up the offense. Coles said he apologized if he had been a locker-room distraction.

Coles said he took notes during the meeting. "It went great," Coles said. "After that, he thought we might be able to work things out."

However, Coles said that the situation disintegrated after a Feb. 21 article in the Washington Post that described his unhappiness with the Redskins and reported that the two sides had reached an oral agreement that would likely lead to his release. The Redskins and Coles accused each other of disclosing private information, Coles said, and disagreed on a solution.

The February 21st article was written by Demasio. If Demasio doesn't write the story, Coles may well still be a skin, Smoot gets more of an offer, and things are much happier in skins land. I know that's what sportswriters are suppossed to do, but man, talk about screwing with the home team. :vomit-smi

if coles really had an attittude like that,i'm glad he's gone.i'm not worried about smoot,he's replaceable, and gibbs has always had an eye for picking late picks in the draft that eventually are all pros.smoot is gonna freeze his ass off up there next year.
