That Guy 04-21-2013, 07:04 PM meh. no gauranteed money is nice, but a 1st and 3rd for the honor of handing revis 96mill would make me uneasy. i'd say good on the jets. revis is a headache, and even though you won't replace him with those picks, the extra money (and comp picks) will make the team a lot more flexible. The first RB off the board in ’63 was Don Lisbon, in Round 3. GTripp0012 04-21-2013, 07:08 PM It's a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams. Tampa gets really good, really fast, and didn't have to get married to Revis in terms of contract or draft value. The Jets get one of the most valuable assets in the NFL (a first round pick) at the point when its most valuable (week of the draft, GMs first season in town), and gives Izdek enough ammo over the next two years to rebuild the Jets. This doesn't mean the Jets are ever going to be as good without Revis as they were with him (in fact, I'd probably bet against it), but given where they were in terms of roster and cap, they needed the opportunity. The Bucs are probably on a shortlist of top NFC teams right now. They're right where they need to be in the NFC South...whether you'd take them over the Falcons isn't really an important thing to decide in April. skinsfaninok 04-21-2013, 07:16 PM It's a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams. He's just not that good IMO. I do agree about the team being overall better but NO is still better and so is ATL. Both of those teams have way better offenses and obviously QBs. Carolina could be better as well. Seattle SF Washington NyG Gb ARE all better than TB Chico23231 04-21-2013, 07:29 PM It's a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams. Well I'd say this, Bucs gotta lot more to prove on the field than the Falcons. Let's remember how they ended the season last year (1-5), alot more questions than answers. I wouldnt move them ahead of the Saints nor the Falcons in that division. In regards to the trade, makes sense for both sides and like it for both. Revis is still the best corner in the league. I certainly dont think it produces 3-5 wins for Tampa automatically. GTripp0012 04-21-2013, 07:40 PM Well I'd say this, Bucs gotta lot more to prove on the field than the Falcons. In regards to the trade, makes sense for both sides and like it for both. Revis is still the best corner in the league. I certainly dont think it produces 3-5 wins for Tampa automatically.I think the Saints (and Panthers) are a sub-.500 team at this point, so that is what is. And the Falcons have a ton to prove as well. You can't take last years wins away from them, but you can point out that their point differential wasn't all that and they weren't particularly competitive in the playoffs last year after putting up a quick 20 points on the Seahawks. The Bucs are still a huge projection at this point, but they have a ton of continuity on their roster: beyond Revis and Goldson, they changed practically nothing from last season. The NFC South is not a division of world beaters. I don't think they'd be ahead of the Falcons in a set of power rankings done today, but midseason power rankings are way more important all things considered. I'd expect the Falcons to respond to this with an aggressive move up in the draft for a defensive player with an elite rating (Jordan or Milliner). GTripp0012 04-21-2013, 07:48 PM Freeman still makes them avg. He's just not that good IMO. I do agree about the team being overall better but NO is still better and so is ATL. Both of those teams have way better offenses and obviously QBs. Carolina could be better as well. Seattle SF Washington NyG Gb ARE all better than TBI probably wouldn't agree about the NFC East teams being better. I think we're the best team (both present and in terms of future potential) in a weak division. When RG3 is back, healthy, and throwing it around, the Redskins will have a better case as NFC favorites. Freeman's the huge question mark on that team right now, but he was also the NFL's most improved player last year (from 2011), so maybe there's more upside there. And I think you said Flacco was average at this time last year...and all he did was spend 16 regular season games proving you right. It might work out in spite of Josh Freeman. New Orleans is just not good right now. That team is Brees, Graham, Jenkins, and a lot of over the hill guys (which may include Brees at this point, to be honest). CultBrennan59 04-21-2013, 08:08 PM 2013 NFL Draft: Mike Mayock's top 100 prospects - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap1000000161676/article/2013-nfl-draft-mike-mayocks-top-100-prospects) Jez, I know its been said thousands of times already, but this draft really is talented into the 3rd-4th rounds. Barrett Jones, a 2 time All American OLineman and 3 time national championship winner, is the "91st" best prospect in this draft to Mike Mayock..wow. Just shows you some of the talent. I keep forgetting about RG3's teammate Terrence Williams at Baylor. He is another 2nd rounder we could get should Hunter not be there, and assuming we really do address the offense first. Seattle SF Washington NyG Gb ARE all better than TB As good as Revis is, its still a QB driven league. Freeman decides how great the bucs will be, not Revis. The Bucs are still not a playoff team in my eyes. the Jets on the other hand, should they get a good QB like Geno, could benefit a lot from this trade. |
