So exactly what part didn't you agree with? I said I thought this would probably be just like the other mass murderers that have happened. Politically motivated attacks generally focus on the group they have issues with.

Why does it have to be a Islamic or "anti-American" group? Eric Rudolph very much prided himself in being a "American" and bombed abortion clinics and the Atlanta Olympics. To him, he was doing "gods work" by stopping the murder of innocent babies.......by murdering innocent doctors/nurses. Timothy McVeigh wasn't Islamic or sympathize with islamic terrorist groups.

Just a note about the Atlanta Olympics bombing, Rudolph has made a statement that the bomb was intended for a specific target, and with dated timers and explosives he was working with, it created more damage than what he intended. He even went on to apologize to the people he hurt indirectly. That said, he's still ****ed in the head.

I think that he could be a nutcase, like at Aurora or Sandy Hook, who just just wanted to kill a lot of people. But I think the odds are greater that it was political in nature.

I agree that if you have beef with political target, be it a goverement or a corporation, an aboration clinic or medical lab, history tells us you would attack that specific organization and not attack random people. But if you are acting alone, in a small group, or with limited funding you may be unable to attack a specific organization without killing yourself in the process or having any chance of getting away.

Think about it this way. If someone blew up a bunch of people on a subway in DC on the 4th of July, would you think its most likely political or most likely a nut case kid like Adam Lanza? I just dont feel like its a nutcase, or at least the type of nutcases we have ailed with as Nation most recently.

And I think you misunderstood me. I dont think the person or persons have to be part of an islamic or anti-American group, but i think they could be. My guess is that its a lonewolf or a small group of less than 5 people. And because i believe the bomber to be part a small group my guess is that it could be for any reason. My odds:

25% Someone crazy (like your leaning towards).
25% Someone thats part of a fringe left or right group.
50% Someone who considers himself part of an islamist group or sympathises with an anti-America group.

Well,

I'll just keep with my current obsession, and say this was done by a NK sympathizer.

Now that everyone has shaken their heads and rolled their eyes:
things we know:
NK never ever acknowledges responsibility for their attacks.
K-Un wants to attack the US.
The bomb was a basic, ie not mid eastern quality, attempt.
Eastern seaboard attacks would never be missiles, because they couldn't reach them.

All that said,
It was probably a domestic job local to Boston political shenanigans.

I agree that it wasnt a high scale mid eastern quality job, but some of the attempts by "lonewolf" type islamist attackers arnt well financed or trained individuals. Theyre just more or less people for the cause:

Daily Mail - Boston Bomb (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2309728/Boston-Marathon-2013-explosions-Home-bombs-pressure-cookers.html#ixzz2QfI7xl5I)

Police believe shrapnel consisting of metal fragments and nails was packed into pressure cookers and designed to look like discarded items.

Pressure cooker bomb is preferred weapon of al Qaeda, and was used in Times Square bomb attempt in 2010.

Authorities reportedly find circuit board that may have been used to detonate bomb.

Doctor says that numerous sharp metal objects were extracted from victims of the blasts.

Ok, I'm backing aQ affiliates as responsible.

Feels domestic to me too. Maybe a converted Islamic fundamentalist like Reid or maybe just a nutso like McVeigh

So there was no explosive under the grandstands then?

I wonder if this is tied to the Marathon attack? Even though there's no reported link at the moment.

This makes them better than the FBI?

It was a joke. I thought the statement was so over the top that it couldn't be construed any other way.

Speaking of the Reddit crew, looks like they should go in the Best/Worst thread as a Best feature.
