I'm pretty positive that I just read how urlacher was, statistically, the worst player on their defense last year. Bleacher report I think.

Bleacher report? By that measure, he was likely statistically the best player on their defensive squad.

Signing urlacher would be something vinny would do. Probably give him a 30 million dollar contract too. I think the next linebacker to play for the skins will be drafted and developed by the skins, at least they will do that if they are smart. Fletcher does need to be phased out and replaced though. Sad reality of the NFL.

He's missed games in 3 out of the 14 years he's been in the league. Now he's misses games every year now?

Have you all lost your mind?

Did you miss this?

Brian Urlacher was high on the list for being one of the best run stoppers. Fletcher on the other hand was near the bottom.

You guys have completely ignored reality in favor of Fletch. The guy is a great leader, but he's a huge liability now. Guess what, it's not getting any better.
Those 3 years he's missed games were in the past 3 years.

Not sure I was championing for Urlacher's signing, more of pointing out that if Chicago wouldn't even keep their future HoFer for 3 mil, than why the hell are we keeping Fletch for over 5+ mil? Urlacher statistically rated better than Fletcher did last season. I would rather have Urlacher at 2.5 mil than Fletcher at 5.9 mil.

Uhh....wut?

Not sure you quite understand, so let me put it another way.

Urlacher missed games in only 3 years of his 14 year career. Those 3 years were 2004, 2009, 2012. Not sue how those 3 years were in the past 3 years. Did you not look at the link to his stat page?

Now, your claim is he misses games every year isn't just far fetched, it's ridiculous.

flecth was pretty bad while he was hurt for the first 7 games or so. he was better at the end of last year. that said, sooner or later someone else is going to have to take his place.

we've retained 21 of 22 starters on a playoff team that showed dramatic improvement in the 2nd half of the season. Our only loss was a mediocre starting cornerback. we've added some cheap depth, resigned our core guys, and the draft hasnt even happened yet. Despite the cap penalty, its hard for me not to be optomistic about our chances entering the 2013 season.

Couldn't agree more. And I'll take your one mediocre starting cb and raise you two stud d linemen. With the addition of carriker and osackpo returning from injury our d line should be much improved. And with Davis now returning on offense that's another upgrade over last year. All in all I agree with you it's hard not to be a little bit optimistic about our upcoming season.

I just go off of recent memory. I know he had a wrist injury which he missed time and I may be getting that year and another year mixed up with missing lots of games. He is not what he used to be. Ill pass on him unless he wants a vet min contract.

We already have an aged vetran in the middle, I don't see the point in adding another. Bringing in a young guy to learn behind Fletch on the other hand is a great idea.

so any word on what FDavis contract is? and any word on Winfield?

Wouldn't surprise me to learn TW restructured to clear room for FDavis. I just get the sense that he Fred and Griffin have strong bonds amongst them
