BHA makes some excellent points. Only thing I'd add, as a devil's advocate sort of thing, is that historically, the NFL has been good at "figuring out" offenses when given time, especially "gimmick" offenses. Fortunately, I think the Pistol formation is so multi-dimensional, especially with the players we have that run it, that it will be MUCH more difficult to figure out than the... Wildcat, for instance. I wouldn't even call the Pistol a gimmick offense. But the point is that even if all the players stay the same, and they learn the playbook even better, there's still a chance that some cunning DC's around the league could use gametape from last year to stop - well, slow down - the offense.
1st, I echo that BHA's post encapsulated how I feel.
2nd, to your devils advocate point, I do think that the NFL defenses, particularly division rivals, will do better. If you look at our 2nd game against each, I think you saw we had to play a different style in order to gain the same points for example the first game against Dallas we lit them up through the air, but the 2nd time was more running. But, there are two parts to the equation - our offense also should run at a faster pace with everyone having a 2nd year in it, and Kyle and Mike get an offseason to add to it, tweak it, and adjust to what the defenses saw.
I hope that our offense should be more error free, even more creative and thus even more productive!
