RedskinRat 03-05-2013, 09:38 PM Fine. Have it your way. Let's use your logic. Since George Washington was a hero to many, he was like Hitler. Or so you must think to remain consistent in your logic.
Or perhaps you should revise your intellectually lazy comparison of Chavez with Hitler.
Chavez/Hitler despotic dictators. Washington? Great leader, beloved and benign. Oh, and half of the name of my favorite NFL team, commie!

Which brings me back to the point I made before: Chavez a socialist, Hitler a fascist mass murderer. Not the same.
"Despotic dictator" does not say much, as it is vague and non-descriptive. There are many different ways to be a "despotic dictator." Cyrus of Persia, for example, was a despotic dictator, but he encouraged tolerance throughout his realm and freed Jews from the Babylonian exile. Is a man who kills Jews and a man who frees them the same?
Like I said, intellectually lazy thinking in this thread.

Mmmmmmm, smell the pompous!
Evil leaders are still evil leaders. Hitler was a vegetarian, yet his other activities outweigh that effort, for me.
I'm sure your flexible moral yardstick has been further warped from extended immersion in the sewer of fraudulent academia.
CRedskinsRule 03-05-2013, 11:03 PM how did he die? and how old was he? too finger-lazy to google on my phone

You miss the point. To get hung up on whether Chavez and Hitler are the same are different is asinine and pointless. The world is better off with him dead, that's the point. He had countless human rights violations, was friendly/supportive of Iran and North Korea, and was openly combative on the diplomatic stage with the United States. Nobody cares what his politics were. The sum total of his life = piece of shit, and the world is better off with him dead. That's the point.

Attacks against the person are the resort of those who have no real argument.

Lotus, you're trying to win an argument nobody gives two shits about.

Shhhhh! This is fun!

With all respect, YOU don't care about it. Many others do. We can't understand his effect on Latin America in the past or in the future while we talk about him like a wooden stereotype.
Or, put differently, to compare him to Hitler is to insult Hitler's many victims, since Chavez did not do the same.
But I am not defending him. For example, in your list above you did not mention how he cozied up to China in particularly galling ways. But let's keep things in context and not over-react. He was no Hitler.
