Searched and couldn't find this thread anywhere.

Will Jamarcus Russell make an NFL team this year? He is training at TEST Academy in San Diego, along with Jeff Garcia, Marshall Faulk, and some other high-caliber athletes.

I've been watching the documentary on him so far, and it's very interesting. Russell is below 300 pounds as of 5 days ago, and still hopes to be at 265 by the time of his Pro Day that he is holding in April.

Watching him work out, it's definatley a work in progress but he is apparantly impressing them and all involved believe he will reach his goal. He looks good throwing the ball. He had some misses but the arm strength is still there.

I don't believe for a second that J-Marc is broke. He may be celebrity broke, but i can't imagine that working with Garcia and company is cheap..

Bottom line is the guy is showing a work ethic now and i think he has to make it somewhere, maybe not as a starter right away, but he is surely better than alot of NFL backups. I know number one picks can be busts, but it's not like just anybody can get the no 1 pick....thoughts??

Maybe he'll play a year or two in a new USFL?

Who knows, maybe he has changed. It is just amazing how someone who had the athletic abilities that he had and the opportunity that he had, threw it all away for more or less laziness. In a twisted way, I think JaMarcuss Russel has been important for the NFL. I believe he is one of the biggest (no pun intended) reasons why we have a rookie salary structure. And also, I hope he stays in the news (for good reasons) because I think he is a good example to rookies of what can happen if you don't work hard (even if you have all the talent in the world).

Because of the big contract, it seems Jamarcus Russell became disinterested. He got complacent and he didn't have the right attitude. He's still young and there's still time to make something out of his career. If any NFL teams show interest in Russell, they are best served signing him to the veteran minimum as a third string quarterback. If he does well in OTAs and it carries over into training camp, then move him up the depth chart and allow him to compete for a 2nd string QB gig once the preseason rolls around.

Russell is going to have to show a better mental attitude if he wants to be in the NFL and remain.

He's a bum. He won't make an NFL roster.
