A good point was made on Sirius XM NFL Radio the other morning. With the salary cap stagnant, big name players are still going to be outdoing each other for contracts, where is the money going to come from? The middle man of the NFL. Middle tier players aren't going to get the money they got in past years IMO because of this.

There is still not a salary floor teams have to meet. There is plenty of money to go around if teams want to spend it. Next year, there WILL be a floor and I would imagine this should result in pay bumps for alot of the middle tier players.

Question: I know some people are saying let Lichtensteiger go and just go with LeRibieus but how did LeRibeous do in his limited action last year? Was he playing at a similar level or better?

He played well enough we could do without Lich, but IMO more OLine means more better. I always like a ton of line depth because linemen can go down, as we've seen in the past, and if you have no depth where are you? In the crapper.

well coming off a achilles injury with a deep group of TEs on the market is why I said that...here is how walterfootball rates the TE: WalterFootball.com: 2013 NFL Free Agents - Tight Ends (http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2013TE.php) or 2013 NFL free agents: Top tight ends available - SBNation.com (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/2/16/3857330/2013-nfl-free-agents-top-tight-ends)

I think we will have the advantage signing him.

Right now, I think the only guy on that list that's better than Davis is Tony G. Pita is pretty good too but I think he stays in Baltimore.

Here comes the black cloud of capgate.

Redskins initial offer to Lorenzo Alexander “not close” | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/27/redskins-initial-offer-to-lorenzo-alexander-not-close/)

Zo has to realize that being a back up LB and teams standout isn't going to command millions of dollars. I hope the FO isn't low balling him, but I also hope that he doesn't think he's worth more than what he is. I guess when free agency starts we'll what he's worth on the open market.

We must give Alexander the salary he deserves. With him, Doughty, and Forbath, we had it made on special teams last season.

How much do you give a 30 year old backup LB? His last deal was 3 yrs $3.8M. I can't see topping that by very much.

With our cap situation the bottom line is some tough choices will have to be made.

special teamers that don't score TDs don't get big money. i don't know why people think he should be getting 2M+ a year.

They had another good point on Szaban's show the other day.

As Redskins fans we know how valuable LA is as a special-teamer and team leader. He can also sub in at many different positions and is a positive force in the community.

But other teams won't see all that, they'll just see a 30-yr old special-teamer/backup LB. In other words, it's very likely no other team will value LA as highly as the Redskins and their fans do.
