What they should do is put down brand new grass and not schedule any events at FedEx during the football season. If you continuing having these concerts, soccer and football games there during the season, it's simply going to destroy the grass.

I think you'll see what Dan cherishes more. His players safety or money.

This is how grass is supposed to be for a outdoor football stadium.

Our crew does a excellent job at keeping the field in top shape all year long. (especially the football season)

These types of responses are so stupid. His player safty = $$$$$$. Also he has shown over and over again he will spend money on the team so that's not even an issue.

ECU
Playing Surface During the summer of 1983, a complete renovation was done on the playing surface. A new drainage system, a new base of gravel and sand, new treated topsoil, and a new grass--Tifton 419 Hybrid Bermuda--was installed.

Bermuda would be nice in DC but it would be dormant by the begining of November.

Some of you really make me shake my head.
I've watched the Redskins have some of their greatest wins in the sloppy mud trenches of RFK back in the day.
It was 10 times worse than that Seattle game.
Maybe we should give the players silk hankies and Grey Poupon during the game too.

No doubt!! Thats what i said weeks ago! Go look at the 82 NFC Championship game and the 91 Championship game!! Live on Natty grass live on!!

You will not see any of those types of fields again with the drainage they now use under the turf.

I'm sure PG county would for DS to stop holding events there for half the year. They'll be all over that idea. The place exists to hold events, 10 a year are football games. Don't ignore the fact that owning the Redskins isn't the only thing DS does. He is a business guy and owning Fedex means using it to make money.

I think I acknowledged that by saying "we'll see if Dan cherishes his players safety over money. If he continues holding events, then the answer is he cherishes money more.

How is it stupid response? It's a correct response. Spending money on player salaries doesn't mean you are spending money on player safety. The two doesn't go hand and hand. These are the same guys that pushed for a 18 game season so I think it's quite evident that owners aren't genuine in their push for player safety.

If he *really* cared abut their safety he would pay them to sit on the sideline and forfeit every game.

Exactly. Like most things in life, it's a balancing act. Lots of teams play on natural grass, it just needs to be kept up better, which they have already said they intend to do.

Chicagos field is god awful. I remember one year they put new grass in half the field from the 35 to the other 35 yard line, and how many torn acls occured then? None that I can think of.

2013 Field (http://www.redskins.com/news-and-events/article-1/FedExField-Surface-Contingent-On-Schedule/88c373fd-51af-4b2a-9672-7c006ab85498)

As long as there is enough time between games to allow the grass to take hold, the Redskins will plan to have fresh a fresh surface at the end of the 2013 season.

"We missed an opportunity last year in the window between the seventh game and the tenth game to resod the field," he said. "Obviously it’s not going to grow, we’re not in Florida, but we think it’s going to address the playing field in December and January."

Not sure why everyone is complaining - it's been over 1-2 months now. The turf did not cause RG3's injury, he was injured for weeks and an awkward run at the goal line worsened it. AstroTurf or MoonTurf wouldn't have made a difference. Clemons.. well - he was on the other team at least..

It's football, a man's game. They play in rain, snow and sleet and we're supposed to care that it gets muddy in December?

And yes, I get it, nothing else to talk about this time of year.
