So, out of all of the "Native Americans" who were polled at this summit, how many were full-blooded Native Americans, and how much of a percentage who voted actually said the name was not offensive.

SkinsGuru 02-16-2013, 11:33 AM How about we just keep the name and tell the uptight PC folks out there to buzz off? Bruce Allen says Redskins won’t change name | WashingtonExaminer.com (http://washingtonexaminer.com/bruce-allen-says-redskins-wont-change-name/article/2521608) Agreed . . . and this: growing up a Redskin fan in Northern Michigan was not easy. All we got to see on TV was either the Packers or the Lions . . . there was no Direct TV . . . there only thing you could do was the large satellite dish and they were VERY expensive . . . but i lived right down the road from the Ojibwa Indian Community and had quite a few friends there . . . they flew the Redskins flag all football season long and had a community hall with a satellite dish just so they could watch the Redskin games . . . it was a celebration every week . . . and what they told me was the term Redskin meant to them was "Great Warrior" . . . the whole community there embraced the name and the team . . . Source (USA Today): (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/redskins/2004-09-24-redskins-indians-poll_x.htm) A poll of American Indians found that an overwhelming majority of them are not bothered by the name of the Washington Redskins. and while that poll is a bit older, there are tons of polls like this . . . the VAST MAJORITY of Native Americans DO NOT find the name offensive. Unfortunately we live in a world where if one person is offended that's usually enough. Never mind that the one person has a vested interest in being offended and may not even be the subject of the slight. Yeah, I'm talking to you, Liberal do-gooder. She, at least in her coverage, hates Snyder, and any news item which she can use to mock, attack or just plain hate on Snyder she will do it. A lot of that Dan brought on himself with his early moves when he bought the team, but to think this article is anything more than just an attempt to slam Snyder is basically wrong. I hope eventually the Post and the Skins kiss and make up, but until then I'll rely on several other far more accurate, and less biased, sources for Skins community news. Wow, I had missed that article. I honestly can't believe the post would put something like that in their paper. I understand they have their differences with Snyder and the skins, but come on, that was basically journalistic bullying. It's shame, but you really can't trust anything you read or hear, everyone seems to have an agenda. HailGreen28 02-17-2013, 11:05 AM Wow, I had missed that article. It wasn't written up to professional standards. Let alone fair and accurate. NC_Skins 02-17-2013, 07:49 PM Are we still talking about this shit? :bdh: Hog1 02-17-2013, 11:32 PM “There’s nothing that we feel is offensive and we’re proud of our history,” Allen said at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Redskins’ training camp in Richmond on Thursday. “To suggest that players and coaches and fans are thinking any other way doesn’t make sense…It’s ludicrous to think that we’re trying to upset anyone.” Your father would be proud of you Bruce.........I am irish 02-18-2013, 09:30 AM Yeah, the childish tone of Jenkins' article surprised me. She's paid to give her opinions not to be fair & accurate. firstdown 02-18-2013, 11:25 AM So, out of all of the "Native Americans" who were polled at this summit, how many were full-blooded Native Americans, and how much of a percentage who voted actually said the name was not offensive. I checked it out some live and only one or two of the people were indians. It looked like the other 95 to 99% were black or white. |
