Ravens v. Niners Super Bowl Thread

I guarantee you a Ravens fan is a bigger whiner than a 49ers fan any day of the week.

Around here they still complain about the 24-21 loss in the championship game, they claim Ronnie Lott didn't interfere with Monk. That's the day i started hating the niners, Randy Cross talking shit about the smurfs, etc.

What I'm saying is that would have been the ravens with the ball instead of the 49ers and the 49ers would have had the ball with around 2 mins to go, like the ravens.

and when i say "neither really stopped the other" that isn't a definitive statement, obviously some stops were made, but it felt like when either team had the ball in the 2nd half, they were going to score be it a TD or a FG. And we can also question that non call in the endzone on crabtree as a ''stop''. I don't think it should have been called, but if that were the redskins on the 49ers end, I can't say I wouldn't be pissed. It reminded me of the ohio st miami national championship game, where they did call it.
But the point is, that it's a pretty far leap to go from the coin toss, to the 49ers winning because:

1) had the 49ers won the toss, they may have elected to receive. I don't know their history on that.

2) as I said, there was no reason for the 49ers to give another possession back to the Ravens, if they had chosen to run it, they would have taken most of the clock away. Surely if the tables were turned, and the Ravens got the ball with 330 left, and all their timeouts left they would have a - forced the 49ers to use up their timeouts (they only had two), and b- possibly sealed it with 1 or 2 1st downs, never giving the ball back to the 49ers.

3) The 49ers were truly in their best case scenario once they were down so far, which is have a chance to win the game with 4 tries at the 7 yd line. They couldnt do it. The Ravens redzone defense was real in the playoffs, the patriots were 1 of 6, SF missed a few other times down their as well. It's the SB you have to win in the redzone. The Ravens did, all night long.

I blame the playcalls alot more then that non-call at the end, like others have said. They have a guy who is low percentage throwing from the pocket in the red zone, for the last few games. Didn't seem like a good set of plays for him. For all we know the last play was partially designed to try and get a penalty? Intiate contact with the defender then try to move off for the ball with the ref watching the whole thing. Seems like a botched play also, if the route is run better at the start the throw comes sooner? Crabtree pushes Smith for a few seconds backwards before he tries to break for the side. Stutter step then sprint for the fade?

Yeah, just saw that also. Throw wasn't great then from the blitz. I was just focusing on the crabtree/smith part. Crabtree doesn't do much except run right into Smith.

A very good break down of the endzone play with Crabtree. You can see him clearly pushing off on Smith as well so I'll have to stand with it being a good no-call in that situation.

I haven't been on /r/nfl since the game, I'm disappointed to learn that this was a thing and our fans are complaining about it.

There was contact from both guys, and the call could've gone either way, I have no problem with the no call. I'm more upset with the play calling - We had 4 chances inside the 10 yard line, we have one of the best running offenses in the league, and Ngata was hurt. Run the damn ball!

Clearly contact from both guys involved, and the ball wasn't even catchable which probably played into the refs thinking. Good non-call.

I'll say it again I was very impressed with the refs and how they let the players play.

Jim Harbaugh definition of "class and grace" is weird. Him and Bill Belicheat must have similar definitions of the words.

Of all people, 49er fans (especially that bitch Jim Harbaugh) should stop talking about a missed call. Last I recall, didn't they win the NFC championship game on this 4th down play?
