Makes a lot of sense in how it would help with ACLs. The amazing part of the article is that this technique relies on the individual's own bone marrow stem cells. It's like you become your own walking rescue kit. If these techniques work, and they can store these cells, think of the amazing help that could be just around the corner for all kinds of cures. Honestly, this could be as big as the polio vaccines.(not just for athletes)

No, they are taken from the bone marrow of the individual. As the article states, that is the only way the procedure can be done in the US.

They definitely need to do more research on adult stem cells. They may not be able regrow at the rate or effectiveness as the fetal or embryonic (like being able to regrow body parts) but they may be great at helping to repair muscles, ligaments and tissues.

Manning did it to his neck going to Europe, he came back looking as good as ever. I think this is the new break through in medicine.

Manning did not play football for about a year after he had it done and the reports are not clear if it worked.

Bone marrow? Wow that must be extremely painful to acquire.

It is striking how opposed some people are to stem cell research despite the obvious benefits of stem cell medicine. Hence the need for hush hush on this.

Whats stiking is that you would question why some people are opposed to embryonic stem cell research - whether you agree with their point of view or not.

There was arguably scientific benefit to the horrific research the nazis did experimenting on prisoners in WWII. I hate to use such a extreme comparison to prove a point, as no rational person would equate what the nazis did to embryonic stem cell research, but the underlying principle is the same - Scientists can't just perform research because of the potential benefits. Ethical concerns should be weighed against potential benefits in any type of research.

The reasons many peope oppose research using embryonic stem cells are obvious. Whether you agree with their point of view is entirely another matter, and its entirely reasonable for a person to have no problems with embryonic stem cell research.
