81forHOF 01-22-2013, 01:36 PM Vote here NFL.com - Pepsi Rookie of the Year 2012 (http://www.nfl.com/voting/rookies/2012/YEAR/0)
Right now Russel Wilson is kicking Rg3's butt in the social vote. You can follow the results of the social vote here Washington Redskins | NFL Rookie of the Year (http://www.redskins.com/fan-zone/nfl-rookie-of-the-year.html)
Come on Redskin's Nation, be heard!
CRedskinsRule 01-22-2013, 02:41 PM I clicked to vote once for Griffin, but really, can't knock Wilson if he gets this vote, especially after going the deepest in the playoffs. Just like all season, and the pro-bowl, the fan vote really skews things, and I would be just as glad if they got rid of all the fan voting stuff anyways.
This isn't for the official ROY. That's voted on by the AP and has already been decided, it gets announced the week before the SB.

Thanks Matty, I did wonder as I knew the sportscasters had already voted, but from the description I thought this was maybe added in, a la probowl voting.
Mechanix544 01-22-2013, 07:05 PM well, i cast about 100 votes for RG3, hope he wins the pepsi rookie of the year. It IS the most prestigious award there is.

I was wondering about that but I'm not entirely sure that you are right. They are calling it the NFL Pepsi Max ROY so it sounds like they may of just got a sponsor to make a couple bucks. Also, they are calling our voting the 'social vote' which tells me that there is a non-social vote as well. Is it like the pro-bowl where the AP and fans both vote? Plus, why are they doing it on NFL.com?
You maybe right, but it all seems kind of odd.

Although it’s not the “official” one, Robert Griffin III has taken home another rookie of the year award.
Earlier, he won recognition as the rookie of the year from the Pro Football Writers of American and Pro Football Weekly magazine. That award was voted on by members of the PFWA, composed primarily of the beat writers who bring fans coverage of their teams on a daily basis.
Now Griffin has been named the Rookie of the Year by The Sporting News. That award is made based on the votes of some 800 NFL players, coaches, and executives. Griffin got 363 votes, easily beating out quarterbacks Andrew Luck of the Colts (213) and Russell Wilson of the Seahawks (124).
“Simply put, Griffin returned legitimate hope for a championship to the Redskins,” TSN said in announcing the award. “He led them to a division title for the first time since 1999 and created a buzz throughout Washington and the NFL. He put fear in opponents, who knew facing Griffin was like facing lightning ready to strike.”
The rookie of the year award that the NFL has deemed to be “official”, the one determined by a panel of 50 voters selected by the Associated Press, will be announced during an awards show the night before the Super Bowl.
Need to Know: Another ROY for RG3 - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins (http://www.realredskins.com/rich-tandlers-real-redsk/2013/01/need-to-know-another-roy-for-rg3.html)
BigHairedAristocrat 01-23-2013, 12:56 PM we have two ROY threads. might make sense to consolidate.
Monkeydad 01-23-2013, 02:03 PM Of course Wilson's winning the "social" vote. Seattle is full of hippies who spend their days in Starbucks on their iPhones and iPads on Facebook.
I just did my part.
RGIII should be a lock for this based solely on how many ROW awards he won. He dominated the award all year. Morris and Luck are a tossup for the second-spot.
Wilson won it ONCE. I don't see how you can give the ROY to him over another QB who won it seven times.
Also, without the replacement refs and the worst call of all time against Green Bay, Wilson is not a playoff QB. That team was handed a playoff spot in a gift basket, they didn't completely earn it.
