I voted for Morris. He busted his ass for this team and without his play alot of what we did would not have work nerly as effective.

I love this quote from the Sporting News: “Simply put, Griffin returned legitimate hope for a championship to the Redskins,” TSN said in announcing the award. “He led them to a division title for the first time since 1999 and created a buzz throughout Washington and the NFL. He put fear in opponents, who knew facing Griffin was like facing lightning ready to strike.”

There were some great quotes about RGIII this year, and my other favorite was Santana Moss after the Vikings game who said something like, "When it becomes a footrace, you know Robert ain't coming in second."

Let's hope our ROY comes back healthy and re-charged.

Although it’s not the “official” one, Robert Griffin III has taken home another rookie of the year award.

Earlier, he won recognition as the rookie of the year from the Pro Football Writers of American and Pro Football Weekly magazine. That award was voted on by members of the PFWA, composed primarily of the beat writers who bring fans coverage of their teams on a daily basis.

Now Griffin has been named the Rookie of the Year by The Sporting News. That award is made based on the votes of some 800 NFL players, coaches, and executives. Griffin got 363 votes, easily beating out quarterbacks Andrew Luck of the Colts (213) and Russell Wilson of the Seahawks (124).

“Simply put, Griffin returned legitimate hope for a championship to the Redskins,” TSN said in announcing the award. “He led them to a division title for the first time since 1999 and created a buzz throughout Washington and the NFL. He put fear in opponents, who knew facing Griffin was like facing lightning ready to strike.”

The rookie of the year award that the NFL has deemed to be “official”, the one determined by a panel of 50 voters selected by the Associated Press, will be announced during an awards show the night before the Super Bowl.

Need to Know: Another ROY for RG3 - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins (http://www.realredskins.com/rich-tandlers-real-redsk/2013/01/need-to-know-another-roy-for-rg3.html)

Thanks. It all had me confused. That is good news cause I had bet $50 at 6 to 1 before the season started that he would win. That whole social vote thing had me worried! Anyways, I will still continue to vote for Pepsi ROY just because I think he deserves it (although it would be nice to see Morris get a little recongnition after his monster ProBowl snub)

Shit, 11 of the seventeen weeks, a redskin took home the rookie of the week honors. Noone deserves to win this award other than RG3 when compared side by side. (other than maybe morris)

Not that Griffin isn't deserving, but I do think it is worth pointing out that the weekly honors were based on fan voting, and Griffin got an assist from the media churnings, and a rabid DC fanbase.

I think it's safe to toss out the weekly awards, you're right it's voted on by the fans.

But looking at his numbers for the year and the impact he had, he'd get my vote. Easily. He's already won the Sporting News ROY along with the PFWA ROY. I think that's a strong indication that he will win the one that counts.

I could care less about the fan vote. every magazine has given the ROY to RG III , He had the better regular season, I'm not big on if's but If RG III hadn't gotten injured the Skins win that football game
