Do journalist fact check anymore? Sports media gotta lotta egg on their face too. Lance and Te'o stories bring alot of questions, I guess f*ck it, if its a good story just go with it...

Beyond that though I'm amazed you can't see why people are interested in the story. The web of lies, the question of how involved he was, were there others that were in on it as well, his motive behind it all if he was involved.

Sounds like a typical day in Congress. People should be used to it by now. :laughing-

That's the angle I've been coming at this from the start... how this is going to potentially impact his draft status is what interests me the most.

The web of lies, the question of how involved he was, were there others that were in on it as well, his motive behind it all if he was involved... there's still a lot of questions to be answered. I also still don't quite understand why you think a so called victimless situation should be considered harmless or uninteresting.

I doubt teams will gamble on a first round pick/money on this kid given this crazy situation. I am sure some teams probably don't want all the press/attention that this kid will get come draft time.

This is going to be a non-story by the time the draft rolls around. Even Bill Polian thought this wouldn't impact his draft status one bit. (even though he did say it was up the GMs/Management to investigate it)

As I pointed out, Cam Newton had a lot more red flags than this guy and was still drafted #1.

I think how he approaches pre-draft interviews will really impact his draft status. If he comes clean with teams, they will tend to trust him more, regardless of what's going on in the media. However, if he continues to spin dubious tales, his draft stock will drop like a stone.

I guess we see it differently but it is interesting that I agree with you.

Florence Freedom ballclub to have Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Day - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/8855822/florence-freedom-ballclub-manti-teo-girlfriend-bobblehead-day)

Is it too edgy and too soon?

"I don't know who we'd be offending," said Anderson, who said he met his wife online. "It would just be isolated to the guy who made his season based off this story."

It will be a non-story if all the facts come out and it makes sense and teams are comfortable with how he handles it. That's all yet to be seen though.

Although I really don't care much about this story, unless things clear up, the media is going to drag this story into the draft. This is Notre Dame we're talking about, a team that has maintained its elite status and relevance through crappy years. People are not going to let this story go as long as it remains unclear what exactly happened.

By that time, the 2013 Fiscal Cliff will be upon us again so the Repubs vs Dems will dominate the news once more.
