I tore both my ACL and my MCL (complete tears) back in 1967 before there was all of the microsurgery that they have now. Since I was never going to be a star athlete and surgery rehab back in those days could have run 2 years, I never had the reconstructive surgery. Instead, I chose to accept limits on what I could do athletically. Twenty year later I did have to have surgery because all of those loose particles and chips that are discussed in the Lehman article continued to float around in my knee and limit even basic activity. So the stuff Lehman writes about all of the other aspects of the basic joint, beyond the two ligaments themselves are very true. I sincerely hope that the Skins and Griffin are cautious going forward.

By the way, had this been ACL, MCL, and PCL..would that have been worse?

He'll be back. They will run the same offense because it's so effective, and he will learn to be more careful like he was when it was hurt.

Mark S. Was talking about that on M&M this morning. He basically said the NFL will adjust and have to make it legal to lay out the QB because it's not fair to the defense. Basically he said he doubts this offense last much longer

Not a chance of that happening with the concentration on concussions. QBs are nearly untouchable now and I don't see it swinging 180 degrees.

That's what I'm thinking to. We'll see I guess

Another role played in all of this is young Robert's fearlessness. I think that's a chink in his armor, a flaw - I think he's fearless to a fault.

He played well against the Browns on one week's worth of practice. I think Cousins will be fine next season after going an entire offseason taking snaps as the starter. He's no RG3, but it's not like he's going to straight out suck.

Just playing devils advocate here, because I don't want this to happen but I'm going to throw out a name here that was in the exact same position. We all know how that ended.

Let me get your thoughts. Kevin Kolb.

Per Grant Paulsen: Talked to a renowned surgeon who's operated on countless world-class athletes. Said 6-8 month recovery timetable: realistic, not assured....I found particularly interesting from my convo w/ the renowned doctor: RG3's previous ACL tear won't add time to rehab/recovery.

I'm just going to say right now that I think there's a lot of PR spin behind this announcement and I'd be very surprised to see him on the field before early October.

Hope I'm wrong

I don't mind if you are right, if October is when he is 100% that is when he should play, not a moment before that.

That report did seem a bit optimistic to me also.

If we learned anything its that we do not need to RUSH this thing. Just get it done right, no matter the time frame.

Kirk Cousins was drafted for a reason.
