If we're talking hindsight, of course we'd rather have a healthy Wilson than an injured RGIII. But who's to say if we'd drafted Wilson, he'd have the same success here or not get hurt himself?

In hindsight, i think i'd probably prefer to sign manning in FA, draft cousins, and keep all our draft picks. We'd probably have earned a 1st round bye and be on our way to the superbowl.

But as the great Steve spurrier said highsight is always 50/50. I think the skins made the best decisions with the information they had at the time. RGIII was a great pick and im glad we selected him.

Yeah, Cousins is probably as good as Brady; no reason to think otherwise.

I didnt say he was. The point I'm making is that Cousins is like Brady ( like Brady was) and was hired as a back up. Cousins future is unwritten.
To say right now that he will never be a successful starter is purely guessing.
He could be the next Kerry collins or Trent Dilfer.

They did make a great decision, and I would have loved to have Manning in the fold right now with a rookie backup. BUT the fact is PM didnt want to come to DC so we got who we got. If he hadnt been injured we would all still be happy and eagerly awaiting next year or we would be preparing to face the Falcons. Who knows.

I am still stoked to have RG III and it is impossible to predict his future as of know.

This finger pointing is really silly. I have come to the conclusion that if you want to blame someone, blame Robert Griffin III. I know he is 22 and thinks he is Superman, but you have to listen to your body better. Forget the knee recovery, I hope he recovers and matures in his brain. Know when to sit down because YOU CAN"T WALK! I mean Geez. and to all these experts who say the Redskins shouldn't run the read option? You guys are crazy. Keep running it, but buy RGIII a slippy slide this summer and pour water on it and teach the man to slide. some one needs to make a complation video of Peyton and Tom Brady's slides. Dr. Andrews... part of RGIII's rehabilitation is watching that video everyday!

I agree 100%, if any of you havent seen Inside the NFL this week, check it out. TW was miked up and went over to RG III after our second TD. RG admitted that he tweaked his knee to him and that he would play it safe. Unfortunately he didn't. There are also some other great sound bites from them through out the game.

AND it will also make you dislike Seattle's defense even more by the way they handled themselves after the game.

I see what you did. You make funny joke about Jim Zorn.

This kinda stuff is pointless.

Of course KC has potential, very good potential IMO.

My post was more in response to donofriose saying he's a good backup but an average starter. We don't know that yet.

I agree it is a bit pointless but it is the off season and this is a discussion board.

You know who I attribute RGII to or fear he will become. Jacoby Ellsbury. I love the Sox and he is one of my favorites. The guy is lights out when healthy; WHEN HEALTHY.

So RGIII can be better then Luck and/or Wilson and/or the entire NFL but if he can't get back on or stay on the field he is useless.

It was said all season that the knock on RGIII is can he stay healthy. In his FIRST season he has had a concussion and a major knee injury (his 2nd of his career).

I am not arguing with you at all and I went RG to be the best ever as well but at this point if history is a indicator of the future you got be nervous as a Skins fan.

Brady was a once in a lifetime deal. Everyone likes to use that example but how many other players have replicated what he did?

For a 6th round draft pick, Tom Brady was certainly the most underrated NFL draft pick of all time. He was the steal of all steals coming out of Michigan.

Its my understanding PM DID want to come here, and we were very interested, but the Salary Cap penalty kind of ruined that.

Your timing is about a week off.. The salary cap penalty came at the dawn on free agency on Monday afternoon.. The previous week it was clear Manning wasn't coming here and we made the RG3 trade with the Rams. He made it known he wasn't interested in facing his brother twice a year. We never had a legitimate shot at Manning.

Even with the injury, I'm 100% satisfied we made the moves we did. Our short and long term future is much brighter with RG3 than it would have been with Manning.

The penalty was announced at that time, but, contrary to what Shanahan stated initially, the Skins knew it was probably coming months in advance. Subsequent reports made that very clear. Its not like Mara was having secret meetings and negotiations with the NFLPA that the Skins, Cowboys, and other owners didnt know about.

The Skins had a meeting scheduled with Manning even after they made the trade for the #2 pick. You say we never had a legitimate shot of coming here, but youre making a bigger deal of his not wanting to play against his brother than it really was. I beleive SS even stated he was seriously considering us (although we were not necessarily the front runners) at the time.

Personally, i think we were planning two contingencies:
Plan A) trade for RGIII if we think we'll get the cap penalty; or
Plan B) sign manning and draft a QB if we dont.

Even after trading for the #2 overall pick, we still could have turned around and flipped it to the browns if we didnt get the penalty and decided we'd rather do Plan B. Still, i think its obvious that our preference was to go with Plan A. But if the Browns had secured the #2 overall pick and we did not get the penalty, i think we would have made a very strong push for Manning.

Injury aside, RGIIIs a perfect fit here. Luck is a perfect fit for the colts, Mannings a perfect fit in Denver. Everything worked out for the best.
