This is a horrible idea for a couple of reasons:

1) Fedex is one of the one of the newer/nicer stadiums in the league. Financially, for the team, league, and taxpayers who'd be expected to contribute, it doesnt make sense to move. Its just a dream of older fans who daydream about the "glory days."

2) Unless you want to root for the Washington Warriors, you shouldnt want the team to move back to D.C.

Redskins name change should be discussed, Vincent Gray says (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/mike-debonis/wp/2013/01/09/redskins-name-change-should-be-discussed-vincent-gray-says/)

The Washington "Redskins" are not moving back to D.C. Time to move on.

1) It was a hypothetical situation. I know they won't move.

2) This fall the stadium will be 16 years old, not exactly new.

3) There are 16 newer stadiums in the NFL, I would not call it one of the newer stadiums in the NFL. It is in the bottom half.

4) If you move to Northern Virginia or DC, two of the richest areas in the nation, especially the US, they would be able to find the funds for it, if Indianapolis and Dallas found the resources, I am sure Northern VA or DC could find the resources.

5) Like the article states, they would discuss it, the mayor would need support in order to create a change... you really think he is going to get it? Northern VA is also an option and would have the backing of an entire state, unlike DC (which is only a city).

6) The stadium is nice? I went to different sites to get different opinions of the quality of the stadium on a gameday for fans and fan experience Washington ranks 25th, 19th, and 27th,

So he drops mega millions on players/coaches but won't drop a couple million for a field? Not sure I buy that's the reason.

I was referencing the part of the quote about moving the stadium. But I do not know why Snyder does not invest in field improvements.

I think the fan experience is great because of how long the stadium's been there, special rule consessions the NFL makes for Lambeau, and the fact that, for the most part, they've had a good team to root for, for the majority of its history. Most recently, theve only had 2 losing seasons in the past 20 years.

Just like Pittsburgh, that is why they are considered two of the top franchises in the NFL.

Hope the Redskins just start to build a new stadium, hopefully where RFK is or in northern VA. 1 billion dollar stadium please.

They are money sinks for the community. They really don't generate capital as you might think. They take more from the community than they end up giving back.

F a name change. I'd rather move the team to West Virginia than lose the Redskins name.

Wheeling Redskins sounds better than Washington Warriors to me.

Heck, build it at the Charlestown race track.

In defense of FedEx, they put down a new surface during every off-season.

The problem is that they use a field designed for very low traffic and then put it through heavy traffic year round. It is bermuda grass on a soil base of 90% sand. UVA has the same field, but its rarely used beyond UVA Football, and they have a very nice field.

It is utterly moronic to choose a field designed for 15 or so football games per year then subject it to year round heavy activity. Not only is it the Redskins playing there, but also some college and HS football games there. As well as concerts and other events throughout the year. They need to go to a turf designed for heavy traffic, or go to the field turf.

To answer the Question about the Packers field. The reason theirs looks green year round is that they actually have a mix of natural grass and synthetic grass. Sounds like the Redskins need to look into that.

If I was Daniel Snyder and insisted on moving the team from their existing stadium, I would move it to VA and make them into the Virginia Redskins.

"As Courtland Milloy reminded Washington Post readers today, the Redskins moniker has been under fire for decades for being, plainly, a racial slur."

No it isn't a racial slur. It wasn't when the term was coined by an Indian. It's not now, especially by fans rooting FOR the Redskins.

I see DC hasn't upgraded the mayor position by much, since Marion Barry was running things there.

So 0.5% of the Native American population in the US lives in DC, MD, and VA and the mayor doesn't want the Redskins in DC because the name is ''racist''? Please. I hate Vincent Gray.
