If religion isn't being pushed onto someone it's best just to ignore it.
Your path, not mine.
Your path, not mine.

VTSkins1961 01-03-2013, 08:25 PM I two words for all of them.... the chair. DynamiteRave 01-03-2013, 08:31 PM I two words for all of them.... the chair. You can't be all willy nilly with the death penalty. (And before you jump and call me a bleeding heart liberal (I am), I don't feel one way or another about the death penalty. It'd be no skin off my back if they kept it or made it illegal) But if you're going to throw someone in the chair. Intent means a lot. Didn't these guys get spooked and shot ST? That's no reason to fry someone. Now if they came in with the intention of shooting him, that's totally different. It's f'ed up and I have no problem with them rotting in prison for the majority of their life but... Come on. mooby 01-03-2013, 09:05 PM Your path, not mine. Fair enough. I agree with NC, it's pretty pathetic it's taking this long to go to trial. I mean how many more delay tactics is the defense going to get away with? KLHJ2 01-03-2013, 09:39 PM Good point, but I feel only someone new would judge someone by his name and not the content of his posts. That's just my opinion anyways. If you don't mind me asking, what does KLHJ2 mean? Just curious. @Redskinrat: Do we really gotta get all religious up in here? Couldn't you just have pm'd him? Come on man. It is my initials followed by the number two. It provides both truth and anonymity. The 2 is only because KLHJ was already taken when I signed up for my origin account for EA games. I like to keep things uniform. BTW Redskinrat's comments do not offend me. Having faith is a gift of His grace so that no one can boast. I am only being rejected because they rejected Him first. I was once a doubter and a mocker too. I forgive Redskinrat just as He has forgiven me. I didn't mean to turn this into a "Religious Thread". We were asked of our opinions on this matter which usually line up with our own ideologies and philosophies. Mine just so happen to align with what the Bible teaches. The use of the quoting of scripture is no different than providing a source for information that backs up our statements. We do this in every thread to support our ideas by using various references. I do not always like the sources that people use to back their arguments (especially Wikipedia), but I am not going to get upset because they used them. BigHairedAristocrat 01-03-2013, 09:43 PM I think you're confirming enough with this sig: Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight." What manner of benign deity would want to instill fear? How much knowledge of your imaginary friend constitutes insight? 1. The bible, which he bases his beliefs on, does not teach that god is benign 2. The type of fear referenced in that scripture is a fear of displeasing God, similar to how, if you love your wife or child, you have a fear of doing anything to hurt them or cause them emotional pain. It's a healthy fear, not a terrifying fear. 3. Consider for a moment that he does not believe god is imaginary. He believes he is real, created everything, created us, and knows us better than we know ourselves. Knowing about him would tell you a lot. If you are an atheist, you can look at the world around you and marvel at its beauty. If you believe a deity created everything, then you learn about the qualities of the creator by observing his creation - the same way you can learn about an artist from observing their work. 4.its makes you look bad to mock someone else's beliefs when you don't know a thing about them. It would be no different than him saying youre dumb for believing in evolution because it teaches that a monkey evolved into a human overnight when that's not what evolution teaches. Back on topic - a lot of people seem to be of the mindset that this individual should be killed or suffer the rest of his life for being present when one of his friends murdered Sean Taylor. He didn't pull the trigger. This man was a criminal and participated in a robbery that went horribly wrong. He deserves the punishment he is receiving. He's not making excuses - he's showing remorse and trying to make whatever amends he can. i am baffled at how people refuse to show him compassion, while we're easy to forgive a cowboys player who chose to drink and drive and killed (essentially pulling the trigger) his friend. Both men knowingly broke the law. Both knowingly engaged in activities that put other people's lives in danger. Neither man intended to harm another person. So why do we rush to forgive one man yet wish evil on the other? There are two purposes for the prison system - to protect society and to reform criminals. This man seems to be on the right path towards being reformed. When he's eventually released from prison, he will hopefully be fully reformed. What more do we want from him? 44ever 01-03-2013, 09:43 PM Fair enough. I agree with NC, it's pretty pathetic it's taking this long to go to trial. I mean how many more delay tactics is the defense going to get away with? Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of men is fully set in them to do evil. Lotus 01-03-2013, 10:08 PM I understand that it is commonplace for lawyers to engage in various delay tactics. Nonetheless sadly there is nothing "speedy" about these "fair and speedy" trials. You'd think we were in India, where justice moves at the speed of molasses flowing uphill. Darrell_Green_28 01-04-2013, 03:03 AM You can't be all willy nilly with the death penalty. VegasSkinsFan 01-04-2013, 06:23 AM If no intention to shoot, then why bring a gun? Have to agree here. Even with no intent if I walked into an elementary school right now with a gun I would most likely be arrested. If a person pulls a gun, there is intent to inflict harm with it, regardless of if its physical or mental harm. |
