If you love someone...let them go?
Seriously though, maybe it's what Smith wants. Why not give him the opportunity to go home again?

I didnt know he was from Pittsburgh. I guess he wouldnt have interviewed if he was happy here. He's been excellent for us for many years, so its a big loss for us, but he has the right to chose whatever job he wants. I just wish we could have found a way to make him want to stay.

Danny Smith's ST units have performed well this season (past Cundiff), and I had no issues with him staying on as long as they continue to perform. If he wants to go and make some more coin, can't blame the guy. He can take that useless bum Banks with him while he's at it.

why would we say yes? Why not just give him more $ and an Assistant HC title to stay here? I cant imagine Shanahan wouldnt want to keep him.
The man obviously doesnt want to be a st coach his entire life, its the rite thing to do.

Dan Snyder says he fired Vinny Cerrato for letting him hire Jim Zorn (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2013/01/29/dan-snyder-says-he-fired-vinny-cerrato-for-letting-him-hire-jim-zorn/)
Headline sums it up. An interesting nugget nonetheless.

Heard Smith's parents live their, and are not in the greatest of health?
Also, can Snyder then fire himself for letting himself hire Cerrato twice?

Speaking of Snyder, somebody wondered why people still believe Snyder was involved in football operations and my retort would be the following that was posted by LL/HTTR-24/7
Yep.. That is Snyder for you.. Cold one minute and hot the next. He went from cussing Shanahan out the monday after the bye week "Evaluation" talk to debating a extension 7 games later. The decision to stay with Haslett is a weak point, hope it doesn't cost the team next season.
Everything with this team is Snyders call at the end of the day.Owners are owners for a reason, they sit back until they don't want to sit back anymore.
So it makes me think that Haslett and other coaches are staying based off of Snyder's decision to keep them on or his reluctance to pay top dollar for alternatives.
Now, he does mention Snyder not being involved in personnel decisions for the most part.
He is not really involved in too many personnel decisions.. Rare, but when he is upset it's known.

Apparently Rob Ryan's "I will be out of work for 5 minutes" quote didn't pan out how he thought…. Shmuck

Gregg the Bounty Hunter and the Rams would have been a perfect fit for each other. Remember all of the dirty, cheap tactics they used against us this year? Granted they probably only went that far because the replacement refs were allowing them, but that's definitely a bunch of players who would have bought into Williams' "scheme".
