That's OK, nobody's watchin'! :) Chico23231 12-13-2012, 04:33 PM Firstdown-I'm guessing you're trying to be funny Chico-Skip should have left it alone NC-Not sure what's going to happen, but from what I've heard just talking to some friends there....people are really. really pissed. Stephen A. (among others) was livid after the show I mean, I dont know how to respond to that comment other than "you must be kidding me, right", but Skip best reponse is "what about the braids?" Im glad Stephen A was pissed, he should be...that is the proper response los panda 12-13-2012, 04:35 PM i take a daltonian approach to life. "what if someone calls my mama a whore?" "is she?" artmonkforhallofamein07 12-13-2012, 04:40 PM You guys need to watch it if you want to comment on this issue. You are only getting bits and pieces from the articles posted, just like everyone on First Take not knowin the context or even understanding of the meaning of what RG III was even saying. That was one of the worst all around segements of that show I have ever seen ( know that I have a very small sampling of first take ). That took something that was not a big deal in RG III presser and made it into something completely off base of what the guys was saying. It was pretty infruriated by what they were implying the whole show. BigHairedAristocrat 12-13-2012, 04:43 PM From his wikipedia page profile: Rob Parker (born January 18, 1964) is an American sports columnist and race relations expert for ESPNNewYork.com and ClickOnDetroit.com. The man's an expert. He knows what he's talking about. Well Stephen A. Smith still has a job, so don't get your hopes up about some kind of action. ESPN and the race card go together like PB & J. It never ends. I'm with you on Smith. I cannot stand listening to him talk about anything. He can't make a point without raising his voice and yelling. He often times makes good points, but it stresses me out to listen to him talk. First take is a joke of a show. I dont bother with ESPN anymore now that TWC has the NFL network RedskinRat 12-13-2012, 04:51 PM Fortunately RGIII is too bright to let it get to him. los panda 12-13-2012, 04:54 PM Fortunately RGIII is too bright to let it get to him.if he gets a haircut, we're in trouble  FRPLG 12-13-2012, 04:54 PM I think he means acceptable and unacceptable racism, at least when it comes to being what is viewed as PC. It seems to be traditionally be acceptable for a black person to criticize another black (or even a white person) in regards to something that might demerit their credibility as a member of a certain race and it's always simply just viewed as "keeping it real". When a white person tries to "keep it real", it's viewed as racism nearly every time and they are at a podium 24 hours later making a press conference apology. Not to wax on wheter it's right or wrong, that's the way I see it and it just feels like new-age racism-lite. I could care less what race your girlfriend is, what kind of car you drive, or your political affiliation; it's all about how decent you are as a person and how well you represent the team and organization. I for one am pretty proud to own an RG3 jersey as he seems to be just a generally good person (also doesn't hurt that he is an amazing athlete on the field also :)) Woah don't put words in my mouth. There is no "acceptable" racism. I think the word traditional speaks for itself. We've had a problem with racism in this country in the past, in this world really, and that racism in its general form is what I am talking about. Evilgrin 12-13-2012, 04:57 PM ESPN puts on their cartoon characters and they say a bunch of wacko stuff. FRPLG 12-13-2012, 04:57 PM I mean I hate don't care for SAS at all but his response was spot on to me. |
