Josh Wilson #26

Watched the game again this afternoon and think that coaching may have played a big role in Wilson's coverage of Dez on the TD. What you can see on play after play is defense going hell-bent-for-leather separating balls from Cowgirls. Blow-ups in the end zone, more helmets on balls, etc. I think MS and Haz were preaching TO's all week, maybe even offering bounties. And overall, that strategy worked, even if it resulted in a TD on that play. Wilson made some outstanding plays otherwise, so we know he's capable of closing on receivers and playing smart.

Josh Wilson is not a bad corner. In fact he's a good corner. If he gambles on a play like that, let him do it on a much shorter field. Not 85 yards from the end zone.

Our best corner play will happen when we have two solid players at safety. I am sure there will be movement at the CB position, but it won't mean squat until we deal with the safety position.

Well thought out post. I agree with this. I would even argue that the corners that we have are solid enough with the right safties.

Yes. Fix the safety positions and the secondary is fixed. Cuz how's the eagles and cowboys secondary faring with their big free agent acquisitions and big trades to get these "shutdown" corners? Every corner gets burned- especially against great qbs like RGIII.

Don't get me wrong- there probably is some room to improve at the cb position, but safety is much more of an impact position in the nfl.

Safety and right off tackle is the greatest priority for the redskins in the draft. OT prob moreso for the redskins since there currently is not a potential player on the current roster in line to step up for next year.

It'll be interesting in the off-season to see who we pick up/cut in regards to the secondary.

I wouldn't be sad to see Wilson or D. Hall go. As long as we could bring in some upgrades. (But I still like D. Hall.. Meh)

I would say CB/S is the greatest need. The offense has been very productive for the large part. We have a great young QB and a great young running back. The RT position can afford to take a back seat to defensive needs.

That was my first reaction too until I really thought about it. At safety, you have 2 potential starting playmakers. What little we saw of meriweather and tanard jackson - they can play. There is risk to losing them both in injury and off the field issues. I still go back and forth between the safety and right tackle positions in order of priority. But there needs to be some kind of substantial investment and priority with protecting RGIII. The redskins are tied to RGIII - need to invest in someone that can protect him for years to come. Decent play at the tackle position is not good enough when you have a great qb. It will also depend who will be available both in free agency and when the redskins pick- but I think I've convinced myself that right tackle is the priority. Gotta protect the franchise.

His first draft with the Redskins, he drafted T. Williams in the first. In his second draft, he drafted an OL with the second pick we had in that draft (LeRibeus in the third round). Im not sure how after spending a first and a third on OL in 2 drafts that you can then make that claim. His first pick in his first draft and his second pick in his second draft went OL.

Even though im not much for the LeRibeus pick (hopefully im proven wrong), and dont like the Brown trade. The fact is Shanny has paid 10 times more attention to the OL than Snyderatto ever did.

Seeing as it will come up by someone. You can argue whether the Williams and/or LeRibeus picks were worth it til your blue in the face, whether those picks were justified isnt the argument.
