How exactly are we planning to add depth to the offensive line?

The Goat 11-26-2012, 02:55 PM How exactly are we planning to add depth to the offensive line? I know right...easier said than done. MTK 11-26-2012, 03:10 PM The OL is far better than we expected. We have a few young guys for depth who are still developing. The OL chicken littles need to chill. So typical of the short-term memory fanbase. We (finally) have a season where we get really, really lucky and don't suffer multiple injuries across the oline, which still sucks at pass protection, and all history is forgotten. The only indication of our depth is that it's terrible e.g. Polumbus. The interior depth could be better, but who really knows? Not that we have significant resources to add OL talent, but a starting caliber RT is critical. And then the backups gotta get coached up. It's not a dire situation (although RG3's body may say otherwise some days), but to ignore how lucky we've been this season injury wise and the poor pass-protection is just  los panda 11-26-2012, 03:33 PM i saw leribeus suited up on turkey day. he's suited up 3 times now, i believe. hurt stepped in last year. like matty said, the young guys are coming along. the line has done a great job this year, all things considered. it's true, nobody wants polumbus starting, but come on, it's not that bad. I see you get the point I was making. Others remain ignorant REDSKINS4ever 11-26-2012, 03:36 PM This. Draft another mid round tackle to compete with Tom Compton and Polumbus to compete for the RT spot. And this O-line is set for awhile. Kory L will be competing for his spot with McRibeus and Gettis next year. O-Line plan has come together extremely well. I checked Mike Shanahan's draft record. The highest offensive lineman he's taken in the draft was Trent Williams. When Shanahan was in Denver, most of his offensive linemen were 3rd-7th round selections. If the Redskins find value at RT, I'd like the RT to be taken in the earlier rounds of the draft much like with Jon Jansen. RT has been a concern since Jansen was released in 2008. Is there not going to be a draft or free agency next year? The OL is far better than we expected. We have a few young guys for depth who are still developing. The OL chicken littles need to chill. Taken 2 was far better than i expected... but it still wasnt very good. Our OL has done a decent job, but not heroic. RGIII is hit or knocked down on almost every single drop back. He is our franchise quarterback, andits not like hes a stocky guy like newton or rothlisberger. He's young now, but eventually, his body wont be able to recover as quickly and those hits will start taking a toll. we've invested a fortune (in draft picks) in RGIII. we need to protect that investment by doing everything we can to upgrade the line so that he doesnt get knocked down so much when he's in the pocket. When your ranking team needs in the offseason, i cant imagine how improving the Oline is not 2nd... preferably guys like polumbus and Chester can become our backups/depth and we have better starters in front of them. |
