Im filing a writ of habeas dorkus. los panda 11-28-2012, 07:57 PM i just remembered my attorney's name is joe. i had to wonder for a second there, but he's slightly older than 49. hell of a lawyer 53Fan 11-28-2012, 09:53 PM I'm sure the whole organization and fanbase want the best protection for RG3. He's our franchise QB. But somewhere along the way wins and losses matter. RG3 is not in dire danger because of his RT anymore than Aaron Rogers or a number of other QB's. We can't all have the best RT in football. I'm sure if the right opportunity to improve the line presents itself...we'll do something about it. But that win thing? Pretty important too. And if we had better players on defense, safety in particular, I think it's safe to say we'd have more wins and a better chance of advancing in the playoffs. I don't think a new RT would make nearly as much difference in the w/l column as a couple, or even one, good safety would. And if you asked RG3 which he'd rather have...I have a feeling it would be whatever helps the team win the most. warriorzpath 11-28-2012, 10:18 PM I think that it's asking too much of RGIII to put the team on his back and also watch his own back at the same time - just in case someone like Justin Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, DeMarcus Ware, or one of these other pass rushing beasts gets through Polumbus. It's asking too much because while he's trying to focus on attacking the defense, he always has to keep one eye on the right edge. That's the difference between having "decent" right tacke and someone that RGIII can trust. Just think of how much he's done so far - and that's with one eye with who Polumbus is blocking. And I'm not saying get the best all-pro tackle in football; I'm saying put a priority in getting someone that would upgrade that position. This just states the obvious benefit of upgrading RT. There's also some other benefits. The Goat 11-29-2012, 01:12 AM There are 10 guys on the field with RGIII who are there to "protect" him, whether it's a lineman blocking, or a receiver getting open quickly, or a running back picking up a blitz. We shouldn't lose sight of making the entire team better just for RT Do you think there's another position on offense we can upgrade at a higher margin than RT? (no sarcasm here, just honestly asking) And what about defensive position vs rt? I only come up with two assuming one of Merriwether/Jackson starts along with one of Wilson/Hall. Speaking of Hall are you still convinced he's gone after this season? Someone quoted him as saying he wants to restructure to finish his career with us, at least I though I read it. The Goat 11-29-2012, 01:19 AM First, you're assuming that a T drafted higher from a bigger school would be kicking ass right now...like say Bobby Massie Second, your whole thing about "unless you truly follow college football" What is that? I mean you do realize the scouts' jobs are to "truly follow college football" and find the players from schools no one thinks about. Players like...Alfred Morris for example Fletcher too...but whatever you're still wrong @$$&!*% mod :) SmootSmack 11-29-2012, 06:18 AM Do you think there's another position on offense we can upgrade at a higher margin than RT? Speaking of Hall are you still convinced he's gone after this season? Someone quoted him as saying he wants to restructure to finish his career with us, at least I though I read it. I think an argument could be made for DB, but I haven't really paid much attention yet to what's available and yeah I think he's gone. Just my opinion though REDSKINS4ever 11-29-2012, 07:02 AM I would say Josh Wilson may be the one gone. DeAngelo may have his contract restructured. Both he and Wilson have given up massive pass plays on defense yardage wise. But if either of them remained, I would say it would be Hall. Josh Wilson will be like Chris Dishman was. Here today gone tomorrow. JoeRedskin 11-29-2012, 08:55 AM Right now, I am okay with our CB's. If we lose Hall, then we need to have someone who can step into a starting role on the corner - that simply has to be the No. 1 offseason priority. I am not sure that such a person exist on the roster. I am fine with Wilson and C. Griffin as CB2 and CB3. To me, Wilson is solid and an acceptable starting corner but only with strong safety support - which we don't have w/out Merriweather. (Not thinking Jackson is coming back - just my guess. I think he let MS down and that MS does NOT like to be let down). After a new CB and possibly safety, then do we worry about the RT spot. Polumbus is, at best, a back up, but RT is one of those positions that you can cover for both by blocking scheme and through offensive design. As many have consistently said, a single weak link in the O-Line can be protected much easier than several gaping holes at in the back end of the defense. It would be great if Bernstien comes back and plays well enough to start, just not sure that is likely to happen or something MS should rely on. Crawford looks to be a nice add but not starting material and at best a nickel corner, more likely the dime guy. Maybe in time these two can step up - but I think they may just be K. Barnes, Byron Westbrook redux. CRedskinsRule 11-29-2012, 10:03 AM I would like to see the kind of competition at S that we have seen at RB and WR over the Shanallen years. Every off season, we bring in old & young RB's and WR's, and they duel it out in a best man win style. We should be doing that with Safeties as well, but instead it feels like they get a guy, who is the guy, only he's not the guy they thought he was, so now we have no guy, and our defense ranks nowhere near our offense, where we have a guy who proved he was the guy by beating out the other guys who weren't that guy. make sense guys? :cheeky-sm |
