REDSKINS4ever 11-05-2012, 07:24 AM I saw the entire offensive line get pushed around today. I saw Polumbus, Montgomery, Williams, and Lichtensteiger play pathetically. The Carolina defensive front just manhandled our o-line. It was sickening to watch. As a result, Griffin III got hit too much and sacked too much. Just terrible.
irish 11-05-2012, 08:12 AM Nobody has mailed it in. Except for a few players this team just doesnt have enough talent to compete especially with all the injuries.
There are always ebbs and flows to a season, and ups and downs. The team has played very hard all year, has played with pride and intensity. Until last week, every loss was close; and last week's loss to Pittsburgh was just a loss to a superior team. I think falling out of contention and realizing that they weren't that good a team carried over to yesterday's game. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the team has mailed it in for the entire season, but it looked like they definitely mailed it in yesterday. Let's see how they bounce back.
SmootSmack 11-05-2012, 08:44 AM On balance, yes. No extremes here. I'm not saying total lack of effort all game long. You know what I mean anyway, you're a smart dude.
I disagree with you then. You really think Chris Chester, Will Montgomery, Ryan Kerrigan, Lorenzo Alexander (just to name a few) have mailed it in?
KI Skins Fan 11-05-2012, 08:47 AM I don't believe that the Skins mailed it in versus the Panthers. They just got beat.
But now, after Mike Shanahan (of all people) waved the white flag after the Carolina game, some players probably will follow his negative example and quit. Shanahan will probably try to explain away his post game comments in his news conference today but the deed is done and he will no longer be viewed as a strong leader by either the players or the fans.
I assume that Dan Snyder now knows what he needs to do. That is, fire Mike Shanahan. Frankly, I think he should do it now. If I owned the Redskins, the last thing I would want would be a head coach who quit on me. I sure as hell would not want to see his face in the hallway at Redskins Park and be reminded on a daily basis that I'm paying a quitter to lead my team.
You lost me, Mike. Please leave now.

Its just as simple as this ^^^^^^^^^^^
Why the heck is anyone in here thinking we should be winning right now? RG3? give me a break! He is only part of the puzzle. Gotta have something to build around, now we do.
Sorry bro's, going to have to sit tight a while longer. Next year, "if" the draft and FA is executed optimally, and "if" we get our gems off IR, we will see a way different team.
It's NOT the coaching. It's years of mistakes by past regimes that will take time to sort out. Year 4-5 for Shanny.
I've yet to see any specific examples that point to players giving up. I think we have a solid locker room full of guys that care about playing hard and wouldn't do such a thing.
I think too often fans confuse losing with players not trying hard enough. I think we're just outgunned. Injuries have piled up and taken their toll on both sides of the ball.
Daseal 11-05-2012, 10:12 AM Yeah, back off the ledge people. Allen and Shanahan have done a pretty good job of turning over Gibbs' absolutely dreadful roster. We're getting a few players under the age of 30 on the squad, and we're turning it around. It's going to take time to build quality depth and get the chemistry going. We've all seen how succesful changing coaches every three years can be. Give someone a chance to build a real team in DC.
We have a ways to go, but we don't have the depth to deal with injuries like the top tier teams. We lost our top WR, top TE, RT, Top pass rusher, and solid DL. Hard to keep going through that. We had holes before that, now we really have holes.
Chico23231 11-05-2012, 10:16 AM Hey when yall mail things, who do you use? Fed Ex, UPS, or the post office? Ive found UPS usually does the best, but the flat rate boxes by the post office is tempting me

Good measured and rational post. What a novel concept!
Sure it's been disappointing this year but the guys haven't mailed it in. Our recent struggles are a result of a talent gap (largely depth related) in certain areas, some flawed defensive schemes and some unfortunate circumstances in the offseason. Especially against the Giants and Pittsburgh, we don't have the talent across the board to match up. Yesterday was a bad loss to a bad team that should resonate to those in charge that the roster is far from a finished product but to say the entire team outside of a select few has mailed it in isn't true.
