Smoot what have you heard of Pepper Johnson and Kevin Greene as D.C. candidates or a possibility for us?

Zorn wasn't new to the WCO though

We have a short list of potential DC's next year. None have ever been a DC yet in the NFL (that I recall)

I'd be ok with that depending on their background. Leslie Frazier and Raheem Morris are two guys who made the most of their opportunities when they were in the lower coaching ranks, and I'd be suprised if Raheem isn't a coordinator again pretty soon. Obviously he didn't work out as a head coach and the jury's still out on Frazier but both are guys who have definitely made the most of opportunities when they presented themselves. As long as it isn't another hire like Haslett (mediocre track record with being a d-coordinator and from what it sounds like wasn't even that enthusiastic about coaching a 3-4) I'm fine with it.

Slowik was a terrible DC. Think about all those years MS had a great offense in Denver and terrible defense then look at who was the DC. It was Slowik. Slowick should still be our defensive backs coach not the linebackers coach. I wonder if we could take Kirby Smart off Saban's staff?

our own
Washington Redskins: Bob Slowik (http://www.redskins.com/team/coaches/Bob-Slowik/5ecf4c35-8a17-4c17-b9e1-58cfbff9e2f9)

and ryan
Arizona Cardinals: Ryan Slowik (http://www.azcardinals.com/team/coaches/ryan-slowik/a8d4058a-fdef-46c1-a928-a99921f32980)

Thanks for the links. I was definitely talking about Bob, in terms of taking over in an interim capacity as DC here. I wouldn't really want Morris to take the job, and I was thinking that Bob Slowik has experience. Besides I now trust everyone named Bob! ;)

I agree. Crazy to think Ron Rivera might be done after two years as the Panthers coach. Are their problems really that bad? I think they need to run the ball more on offense, but that's only because I have Jonathan Stewart in ff. Either way, if Rivera is available after the season I'd definitely bring him in for an interview, minimum.

Well, they're 1-6 and just fired their GM. It makes sense if you bring in a new GM, you let him clean house and bring in his own guys. Barring a big turnaround Rivera is likely done.

I still say it doesn't matter what sort of front we run as long as the secondary stinks. If we changed to a 4-3 right now, do you really think anything would be different?

Only if it brought more pressure on the QB which I think was probably the reason for switching to the 3-4 in the first place. We want to be like the team that just kicked our ass. Seems to work pretty well for them. But we have a secondary that beyond sucks and a DC that isn't very proficient at running it.

Changing during the season makes no sense so can him after the season. I know we don't have players but it looks like the scheme isn't any good. The Rams game and this past one against Pittsburgh were just awful awful performacnes.
