NC_Skins 10-29-2012, 09:49 AM Jack Del Rio? Really? Jaguar fans are somewhere laughing their asses off right now. Paintrain 10-29-2012, 09:59 AM If we beat Carolina, which I expect us to do, we will be 4-5 and pretty much where most (reasonable) people expected us to be at the bye. We were a defensive breakdown away from beating the Giants in their house and were in a dogfight with the unbeaten Falcons. Understanding moral victories are for the JV team, why is this even being seriously discussed this morning? Honestly, Shanahan is the 2nd most secure coach in the division, let's keep it moving. With RG3, the Skins can beat anyone, but with this D, they can also lose to anyone. And don't say that Orakpo would cure all these issues on D. He's a nice player, but no DeMarcus Ware or Jason Pierre Paul. Paintrain 10-29-2012, 10:35 AM You cannot expect anything as long as we have this piss poor pass D. He's a nice player, but no DeMarcus Ware or Jason Pierre Paul. Hey I agree with you on Rak, he's good but he's not as special as Ware in his prime or JPP.. I think this entire thread is somewhat ridiculous. As you said, with RG3, we are a threat to beat anyone & with our defense we are in danger of losing to anyone as well. That's who we are right now, so the solution (to some) is to fire the coach and start all over yet again? SKINS73 10-29-2012, 10:39 AM Haslett should get a pink slip right after the gun goes off of the 16th game. I have no idea how he's coaching in the NFL. If Greg Williams was coaching this defense we would not be this bad. Not saying I want him back or anything, just making a point. One guy can coach, scheme and mix things up. One guy can't and has a confused look on his face. I totally agree. I was never a fan of the 3-4. Unless you have a beast of a NT like Wilfork who can handle double gap assignments the scheme is a liability when executed by mediocre players. Give JH until the end of the season to pull something together or find another coach who will switch back to a 4-3. As far as offense is concerned I think a RT is the missing piece of the puzzle. If Davis and Garcon were healthy I could see us putting up 30 points a game easy. MS and KS have put together an amazing offense. Every time I watch a game the analysts always comment on how effective the fakes are at freezing linebackers and allowing RG3 to hit players on cross routes. MS said it would take 5 years. Give him 5 years. At the beginning of the season I thought a 7 - 9 record would be beyond expectations. GoSkins! 10-29-2012, 10:43 AM My plan in a nutshell, I would fire Haslett right after the season and get the best available DC in here, and I would focus free agency and the draft on totally revamping the secondary. I'm agreeing with this. Our defensive coach seem like middle of the pack guys even if we had good players. If we can identify a coordinator that looks like a better fit and has a better resume, I think we should improve that. Our offense is really starting to hum and the Shanahans have shown that they are able to adapt to get the best out of our rookies. I always hate to hear a question like "should we fire the coach now or after the season". It reminds me of people that quit a job because they don't like it but don't have anything else lined up. These things need to be done in a responsible way. mlmpetert 10-29-2012, 10:45 AM Ive never been a big Mike Shanahan fan, at least since hes been our head coach, but theres no way i would fire him right now. Griffen has been beyond wildest dream expectations and the last thing i want to do is compromise anything by bringing in a new coaching regime. I think Griffen is so smart, so physically gifted and so skilled that a change wouldnt set him back much, if at all, but its still not a risk i would want to take. I also dont think Shanahan was ever intended to be the long term answer. I feel like Shanahan is really here to turn this team around with the intent to promote from within after he puts in his 5 or so years. After Tom Coughlin, i think Shanahan is tied with Belichick as being the oldest NFL coach. Once Coughlin and Belichick stop winning theyre not going to look for a new team to start coaching, theyre gonna retire (or maybe take on a Bill Parcels roll). We currently have Kyle, Haslett and Morris all prepping for the day Mike steps aside. Unfortunately besides Morris the thought of Kyle or Haslett taking over scares the shit out of me. I think Mike has to fire Hasslett, probably this season at the bye. Mike f'd up by switching to the 3-4 at the time he did but unfortunately for Haslett thats just life goes. In the meantime I would really like to see what Morris can do with our defense, especially if hes the shoe-in for d-coordinator next year. CrustyRedskin 10-29-2012, 11:06 AM If Morris was a good enough candidate to be the next DC then he would be making chicken salad out of the secondary he has to work with. I say he goes too and get some fresh blood on the D side of things. 53Fan 10-29-2012, 11:31 AM You cannot expect anything as long as we have this piss poor pass D. With RG3, the Skins can beat anyone, but with this D, they can also lose to anyone. And don't say that Orakpo would cure all these issues on D. He's a nice player, but no DeMarcus Ware or Jason Pierre Paul. Absolute truth. We can beat anyone with RG3...we can lose to anyone with this D. Mike would get alot more of my respect if he would admit there needed to be some major changes made with this defense and not allow his son to send the most talented QB this franchise has ever had..who by the way is just coming off a mild concussion...out as a WR where he is fair game to LB's and DB's who are drooling to get a shot at him. WTF man??? SFREDSKIN 10-29-2012, 11:34 AM Absolute truth. We can beat anyone with RG3...we can lose to anyone with this D. WTF man??? That was his Superbowl play when the Broncos played the skins and went up 10-0, then Doug Williams took over and the rest is history. |
