Putting position coaches coaching positions they've never coached before..not allowing the DC to have any imput on who his assistants are Bring it on man. You're assuming if he got out of the way the defense would fail. Guess what genius? The defense IS failing and couldn't be a whole hell of a lot worse. If you can't see a problem with anything Shanahan does maybe you'd be better off just sitting back and reading instead of posting a bunch of blind BS. On fire? If ignorance is fire you're blazing right now.Knockout blow. Bucket 11-16-2012, 11:23 PM Yeah he's done a wonderful Job so far. On fire? If ignorance is fire you're blazing right now. Obviously you missed the whole point of my post, and decided to do just a bunch of contradiction. I never said he wasn't failing.. I actually said the exact opposite 3 pages ago. He is failing at the moment, but he also said it would take 5 years, and not 2.5 years like the current time frame. My point of post was it wouldn't of mattered which way Shanahan went with controlling his team. People in Redskins Nation like (insert your name here) would be bitching right now if it was still the present situation. Hopefully I made it more clear to you and helped your reading comprehension. Oh, and G-Tripp... D Hall is our best DB. 53Fan 11-17-2012, 06:33 AM Obviously you missed the whole point of my post, and decided to do just a bunch of contradiction. I never said he wasn't failing.. Oh, and G-Tripp... D Hall is our best DB. Actually I didn't see any point to your post whatsoever other than to take what I said to some moronic extreme and point out the fact that if Shanahan had less imput in the defensive personell and put more trust in the DC he chose AND the defense still sucked as bad as they do people would still be upset. Gosh do you think? Shanahan's strong suit is neither defense nor picking personell for it. Is that too hard for you to comprehend? The best I can tell is you think Lombardi is wrong either because he has no idea what he's talking about or because I agree with him. So which is it? And yes he did say it would take 5 years to turn this thing around. He also said he'd stake his reputation on John Beck. He also said he expected us to have a top 10 possibly 5 defense. He also said he expected our defense to be our strength and to keep us close in games. He also thought Donovan McNabb would help this team and was worth a 3rd round draft pick. Whoopty effing do. So pretty much to sum it up you're saying no matter who is in charge if our defense sucked donkey as it does now..people would still be upset..and Shanahan being wrong on more than one occasion said it would take 5 years to turn this thing around? Wow. You've obviously put a lot of thought into this. Next time you feel like messing with certain "Special" people on this board you might think of all the implications of the word "Special" and perhaps just post a note to yourself. Did you even bother to read any of the excerpts by Lombardi? I doubt it. There is some criticism of Shanahan and the way he's done some things and needs to take some responsibility for it. You might want to stay away from that. It kind of requires an open mind. I understand. 53Fan 11-17-2012, 01:18 PM Spoken like most Redskin Fans. :) I didn't read anything after this.. I understand. Not fully reading things and proclaiming to understand is more than likely part of the problem. Alvin Walton 11-17-2012, 02:33 PM This thread sucks. HTTR247 11-17-2012, 04:58 PM I don't think it's that big a deal that Slowik hasn't coached LBs before, it's not uncommon for coaches to move around within positions on the same side of the field. It's probably a bigger deal that he's just generally not seen as a great coach. Why that is I don't know. I think it also doesn't help that Spanos and Olivadotti before then were so tight with their unit just in terms of personality and Slowik not as much. But I mean I've never heard that Slowik is a bad or distant person. For whatever reason, Shanahan likes keeping him around. I suspect that won't happen for long As for the scouting department not changing, what exactly is he talking about. Several scouts have been added/re-assigned. Is Lombardi talking about Morocco Brown and Scott Campbell. I guess I could see his point there. But Brown is highly regarded league wide (and loved by Dan Snyder, which doesn't hurt) and Campbell has been there since Marty and is the perfect foot soldier. Plus, maybe if Vinny listened to some of his suggestions (draft Jordy not Malcolm) things might be a bit different today. I know, well we all know I think, that Doug Williams very nearly came here back in 2010 but would that be better than what we have today? Morrocco is definitely held in high regard by the Redskins and the league. We talk to Lombardi a lot, he thinks we can add more bodies and more talent in the personnel department. He didn't single out any weak links but was pretty clear we can do better. He felt pretty strongly that Shanahan needs someone to help him in that GM role so he has someone to bounce things off of. I guess you can say he could do that with Brown or Campbell and achieve the same thing. As far the Romeo Crennel and Ron Rivera info.. They have not really focused in on one guy from what i've heard so far. The Romeo/Rivera info is more relevant because they are already looking for Hasletts replacement and most people know those names. There has been a list building for awhile that includes lesser know guys, unless your football nerds, that list includes John Pagano , Vance Joseph, Darren Perry and a few others. I had talked about the lesser known names over twitter the past few weeks so didn't go into them again. Rah is still in the mix but I just don't think it happens even if Bruce loves him and thinks he will be a head coach again. * All of the above wasn't intended for you Smoot, tried to answer everyone in one post HTTR SmootSmack 11-17-2012, 07:29 PM Morrocco is definitely held in high regard by the Redskins and the league. Yeah I didn't mean "what is he talking about?" as in "What the hell is that fool talking about?!!" but more as in "does he mean our Brown and Campbell aren't good, our scouts aren't doing their job, etc" As far the Romeo Crennel and Ron Rivera info.. They have not really focused in on one guy from what i've heard so far. The Romeo/Rivera info is more relevant because they are already looking for Hasletts replacement and most people know those names. Good scoop on those guys. I like Rivera though I'd kind of like a fresh face (with 3-4 experience) at DC. Small world though if we did hire him. Greg Blache succeeded Bob Slowik as Bears DC and Rivera succeeded Blache There has been a list building for awhile that includes lesser know guys, unless your football nerds, that list includes John Pagano , Vance Joseph, Darren Perry and a few others.
