GTripp0012 10-21-2012, 11:08 PM Really... Comparing this years team to last years... Go back and watch game two in giants stadium last year. If their WRs would have caught the ball we would have been pummeled.
Well, sure. That's true.
They had many of the same issues today.
skinsfaninok 10-21-2012, 11:08 PM We improved from beating the giants by double digits to losing by four.
O u mean against NY? Thought u meant in general as a whole
artmonkforhallofamein07 10-21-2012, 11:09 PM I think we have a good offense, but today the offense made a lot of mistakes early on in the game that led to the loss. They were 0-2 in the redzone, turned the ball over 4 times (3 of them were early on though), and could only muster 3 points off the two picks that the defense had.
I know they had a bad day, but had the team in position to win with 1:30 left. 480 yards of offense, but what, 4 or 5 turnovers. Very hard to win in the NFL with that many turnovers. I would say today was definitely a rarity rather than a norm on the TO front.
punch it in 10-21-2012, 11:10 PM Obviously our secondary sucks, but so does our pass rush. Both the Vikings and the Giants had way too much time. I thought Ryan Kerrigan would have a breakout year instead he is showing how much he needs Orakpo on the other side to be effective. The only time we got to Eli was when the Giants were throwing a screen and got a first time. Defense in general needs to play a lot better. Every phase.
Something not alot of people are honing in on. If quarterbacks have so much time eventually one wr is going to get open. This is the biggest argument i have about it being haz over the personnel. Either every player on our d is under performing or they arent being put in a position to succeed.

RGIII is NOT Cam ... Cam isn't a born leader ... RGIII is .... Awful post
Cam led his team to a National Championship, and his junior college team to a national championship. He led a crappy Carolina team to a 4 win improvement in season #1. He was a leader, and he was always smiling and upbeat last year. He's being broken there now under expectations and pressure because the team can't play at a higher level.
Robert looked genuinely hurt to me by this loss, almost quizzical, like "what else can I do?" He has to feel let down by the way this season is going. Especially considering his high level of play. Shanahan has done a bad job, in my honest opinion, of giving him a strong supporting cast with an attitude, and he's had 3 years to do so. Not halfway into his rookie season, and already it's all on his shoulders. Winning is a mindset, and that comes from the top.

I did. We're 3-4.
donofriose 10-21-2012, 11:11 PM Nobody is calling for Shanahan's or Allen's heads -- It should be noted however that this is year three and we are fielding, by all statistical approximations, the worst secondary in the league. What is scary is that it is not as though we are playing an elite quarterback every week.
Injuries have played their part no doubt and the lack of cap space certainly hurts but Shanahan is getting paid $7 million a year and Allen is getting paid something similar I am sure to sort out these problems and in that regard they have failed. Can anyone say, that with the game on the line, you trust the defense to make a stop? I know I don't.
We have a rookie quarterback starting, a rookie running back, no real #1 receiver and they have looked fantastic so kudos to the front office. But, this is year 3!! How is the defense in this bad of shape? And all arguments about turnovers, defensive scoring etc. are specious -- look up the numbers, we are #29 in total defense, #26 in points per game, and dead last in passing yards per game. Without RG3's brilliance, we would be lucky to have 1 win.
Without them we would not have RG3 or any kind of future. I agree that they do need to show improvement for the remainder of this year and next season but too soon to be calling for heads. If we do not make the playoffs by year 4 changed so need to be made.
The Goat 10-21-2012, 11:12 PM Just like you fire Kyle when we had Rex throwing pics last year? Just stop it.
He wasnt playing the short pass. Williams played the short pass. When you call a double coverage its up to the DBs to situate the situation on the field. Not Haslett.. He calls the defense, he doesnt tell Williams how to make the play.
No, you fire Kyle two years ago, one year ago, and today because he can't put a whole game-plan together and there are multiple examples in every game where the defense reads the play before the ball is snapped. The most important three today were all option reads btw, but even further down the line they're still important "misses." While I don't like Mike as a personnel guy, and I think he needs to rediscover his offensive genius, I'll take Mike running the offense completely over Kyle's game-day performances.
The calls for Hazlett's head are justified too IMO. Tell you what, Mike letting his kid, and the NFL, know Kyle's holding this offense back, and then booting the defensive coordinator because he's holding the defense back, could look desperate and I'm sure ESPN would try to spin it that way, but it would really show Mike is serious about finding a winning combo. We have the talent, get the "brains" on game-day sorted out and let's win a few against the good teams!!
skinsfaninok 10-21-2012, 11:13 PM I did. We're 3-4.
Lol last year we won what 5 ? .are we way better? No but Griffin makes us Mo doubt better overall than last year. We'll win 7-8 games at least this year

It must be so hard for him not to say "I can't play defense too"
