If for some horrible reason Smoot chooses 4 more million and plays elsewhere is there any chance we'll see the return of Darrell Green???
I know it sounds ludicrous, but that's what you guys told me when I suggested Gibbs as the coach several years ago. I know some of the newbie skins fans are calling for mutiny, but they have become as fickle as warm sushi. Gibbs and Williams will make winners in DC with whoever that gotta play. Brings me back to Geris White #45 Safety for the Skins in 82; contract holdout, never saw him again. Gibbs went on to the SB the next season (lost), but no player is as valuable as the team is. Don't say its impossible that Green would come back for another season, even though it might be... Call me crazy but Skins PR needs something real positive right now and if it's not resigning Smoot than it will be hiring Darrell outta retirement. Clarrett's 40 proved that Green can still compete if he wants. And Skins PR needs something right now...

It's late at night on the east coast isn't it? Go to sleep man cause it seems like your suffering from mental fatigue.

Seriously, this is just retarded. Green was beaten out by a rookie Smoot for the 2nd CB job, what makes you think he'd be any good now???

cause some undrafted guy runs a 4.8, the redskins surely need a 45 year old that couldn't keep up with nearly any #1 WRs...

Posts like this are why I try to avoid the Warpath.net in the offseason.. See you at the draft and then when camp starts..

With how crazy things have been so far I wouldn't rule out anything, but Green returning seems very unlikely.

Green's too old and too slow. I don't think he'd be a good coach since a lot of his talent came from speed and instincts -- two things you can't teach. The same reason why Michael Jordan would be a horrible coach.

No one's calling for mutiny - some of us "young skins fans" who obviously are ready to jump ship any day, because god knows we're not used to losing, who think that a lot of the offensive woes fall directly on Joe Gibbs. Doesn't make us wrong -- but we don't give him a free pass like everyone else. He has a total of three years to improve the team to the playoffs before I call for a new coach.

I'm still wondering who's giving him a free pass. Gibbs himself has repeatedly said the offensive problems start with him, and I think even the biggest Gibbs fanboy will admit the same.

There's a difference between a "free pass", and giving a Hall of Fame coach the benefit of the doubt after his first season back in the league after an 11 year layoff.

Matty - remember how no one wanted to blame Gibbs for playcalling? They said it was all on the players, because they didn't play hard enough! Benefit of the doubt only goes so far. He's had his chance to re-adjust to the game, I want to see how he handles next year. I haven't seen any of the great adaptations that he made back in his hayday. Gibbs didn't make one game-winning adjustment at half time all year. Besides going ultra-conservative and losing games.

I wouldn't say no one wanted to blame it on playcalling
