I didn't realize that. I would love to have a dependable kicker for the next 10 years. Hopefully he keeps it up and we lock him up before his contract runs out.

Never understood why so many people liked Lohmiller. He wasnt very good at kicking FG's. I get the monday night game against the Cowboys, but it was one game. Imo, the remembering of that one game makes skins fans think he was like that his entire career, and thats flat out wrong. He set a record that game, had a game winner later that same year, and not much else.

His FG % in his time in Washington...

20-29 yds - 93.5%
30-39 yds - 76.5%
40-49 yds - 54.5%
50+ yds - 36%

If it wasnt for the second round pick that was used to draft him, they would have kicked him to the curb a lot sooner. Kai is nothing like Lohmiller, Kai actually makes his FG's.

Thank you

Its because he is a link to the glory years. And his name was Chip.

He was only about 75% for his career, but he benefitted from a solid year in '91 in which he was the league leader in points, Pro Bowler, and Super Bowl champion.

Maybe Lohmiller wasn't that good after all. With all of the mediocrity at the kicker position for the past 15 years, it's easy to sight Lohmiller as the Redskins last franchise kicker....before Forbath.

Quoted for super duper extra strength.

If Chip Lohmiller were around today, Skins fans would be running this guy out of town as fast as they could. It's amazing how people can take one good year, or one good game and create this fantasy or unrealistic image of a person.

Example: D. Hall's 4 game interception against the Bears. Fans gushed about he was our best player on D, and how awesome he was. Realistically, he ended the end as the 3rd worst CB in the NFL.

It's really because he was the last kicker that stuck around for any real length of time. BTW I think kickers have gotten more accurate over the years so comparing FG %s from then to now is sorta apples and oranges.
