The Kansas City Star is now doing anything its power to not print the word "Redskin" in it's articles due to its derogatory/racist meaning. Can't say I blame them... they aren't the first and won't be the last to oppose the name. I wonder how long the NFL can continue to ignore this situation.
What's everyones opinion on a possible future name change? Ideas for new names/logos? I think anything to go along with the Nationals & Capitals would be cool. I saw Federals brought up in a blog, maybe something along those lines. The Washington Hogs would be awesome too, keeping a traditional feeling.
How about the Washington "flushed faces"? C'mon! I hate the age of political correctness. I hope they never change the name, might as well get a new franchise.

Shocked you're from Georgia.
And I'm shocked your from NYC.
Twas a joke, not meant to offend. Jokes about race, religion, sexual preference, disabilities are the funniest jokes in the world, and people that take em seriously are too..........um, serious? I can't grow any facial hair from the fact that somewhere up in the vast branches of my family tree, I have blackfoot indian lines. Kinda neat, but getting offended by the term "Red skins" is a little ridiculous and touchy, at least imo.

I'm a lifelong Redskins fan and can't even fathom a name change. But I have a hard time coming up with a credible argument for why the name isn't extremely offensive/racist (more so than other Native American-related names that do not focus on skin color). This is probably a topic to just leave alone.

Agreed. Washington Tecumseh's like the lawn mower motors Indian chief.

They're done. When they lost Revis you could tell it totally burst Ryan's bubble, and it showed against the 49ers.
If they are smart, they should start McIlroy and see what he can show.

Don't think the legacy of discrimination in this country against white people is really comparable to that against other minorities.

This is what happens when society places so much emphasis on being politically correct, or nice to people. Peoples skin, whatever the frikkin color, get paper thin (sorry trees), and they look for anything to complain and moan about, and be a victim about. Its everywhere in society, and the NFL is no different. This teams name will be an issue moving forward for how ever many years it is in existence, and I can see a time coming where it will be deemed constitutionally offensive or some crap and the owner will be forced to change the teams name in the spirit of harmony and being nice to everyone. Offending someone in todays society is a borderline criminal offense nowadays. Pathetic.
