JoeRedskin 10-02-2012, 11:05 AM Gruden rarely says anything bad about anybody ever, regardless of if the camera is rolling.
I get that. He is someone who searches for the positives about players - he's a little over the top for me, but, it's who he is.
At the same time, his annual love fest for Romo is not just a little over the top. There are degrees of positive and, IMO, his consistent gushing over Romo is way beyond that of any other players.
Of course, in a couple years, he's going to be having a love fest with RGIII. Not sure I will be so critical of that.
skinsfaninok 10-02-2012, 11:16 AM As usual the Cowboys just aren't that good. And as usual the media totally overrated them coming into this season. When will they ever learn??
It's because the media wants Dallas to be good again, yal are lucky you don't live in Dallas country it's horrible.
skinsfan69 10-02-2012, 11:19 AM W/out question Gruden is gay for Romo and it gets annoying at times. But Romo's wr's were so bad last night. Romo did force a few when they were down. They were soundly beat by a better team. Chicago looks legit if they can keep Cutler upright. But in a big game I just don't trust Jay Cutler.
SmootSmack 10-02-2012, 11:30 AM Always liked Gruden in the booth, but I thought he be back coaching by now. I wonder if the Cowboys had 10 loss shitty year he would get a look?
I'd keep an eye on the situation in Cleveland. Though honestly I'd be surprised if he returned to coaching. He's got a pretty sweet gig
As for Romo, I think he's probably as good as he's ever going to get. I think people forget he was an UDFA. And one of the reasons he was one is probably that teams thought he was good but had limited upside.
JoeRedskin 10-02-2012, 12:00 PM Romo is not a bad QB. He's actually a pretty good QB, IMO. He is not an elite QB and it seems like, every year, the on-screen announcer's I watch hype him as one. It's always everybody but Romo's fault - WR need to be in the right place, the line's not giving him protection, etc.
I think the announcer's will fall off the Romo bandwagon faster this year b/c they may finally realize he is - as you say - "as good as he is going to get" - a QB who can extend plays that, at seemingly inopportune times, makes a really bad mental mistake. I think they started to come to that realization at the end of last year but, seemingly, with the new season, all things Dallas become shiny and new in the media's eyes.
I know you disagree that ESPN and the NFL network have this desire for Dallas to succeed, and maybe I am just watching it threw B&G glasses, but it really seems to me that Dallas has, in the recent Romo past, gotten an undeserved prominence in their air time.

Well, Peter King (SI) and Pete Prisco (CBS Sports) had the Cowboys win the division. Two of Eight Fox Sports analysts had the Cowboys in the playoffs. Two of Sixteen ESPN analysts had the Cowboys in the playoffs. I don't remember about NFL Network.
I can't really speak for the other networks. As for ESPN , there are are actually very few Cowboys fans (I can think of maybe one off the top of my head) who are involved in NFL/SportsCenter coverage. But the Cowboys are one of the most, if not the most popular team, in the league. People really love them or people really hate them. There isn't much ambivalence toward them and as long as they draw in the ratings they're going to get prominence in air time. If it were based on who the media was fans of, Redskins and Seahawks would probably get the most air time on ESPN

htownskinfan 10-02-2012, 12:21 PM It was so nice seeing the boys get embarrassed on MNF instead of us.I cant see how Dallas isnt scoring more points with the off weapons they have.Bryant is a physical beast,we as skins fans are lucky he hasnt connected the dots and hopefully he never will.
