Did the coaches appeal?

Guess not... I remember Payton accepting his punishment, seems like a bad call in hindsight. I didn't know if the arbitrator had authority to vacate all suspensions or just those of the players appealing.

Good for them. The league went overboard with these suspensions.

Doesn't it seem weird for the NFL to do come to this decision 2 days before our game against the saints? It seems very similar to the way they hit the Skins with the salary cap penalty right before free agency.

From the article cited above: "A team source previously told Werder that Vilma planned to attend Sunday's season opener against the Washington Redskins, but believed he was at least a week or two from being ready to play because of a knee injury."

Yea, pretty strange for the decision to come two days before the game. However, I doubt these players will contribute a lot due to conditioning issues.

Does the league get to appeal?

I thought I recall hearing that Vilma was likely going on the PUP list. Not quite sure though
